Well my 8 months of waiting is almost up(FINALLY!!). I am thinking of upgrading already... For a pure HT room I was wondering sub placemement for the ep 600 as to whether I should get V or H. I like the look of it being center(if placed v) but ideally acoustically would it work?.... I am waiting to talk to Noreen to upgrade so any info ASAP would be great.

You might pm Alan on this one.
What are you upgrading from and why 8 months? If I might ask.

Well I have ordered Epic 80-500 with extra set of QS-8s I was thinking of upgrading to the 600v. I was waiting 8 months due to doing an addition to my house. Adding 500 sq ft and I didnt have the room to place the system. I figured while I planned the addition that I would place the system on Layaway. I could have paid in full, but I figured this way Axiom couldnt charge me storage fees .
I have PMed Alan to respond to this thread earlier today. Maybe by tomorrow I will get a response. The room is roughly 25x20x7 desingated as HT/playroom/computeroom.

Hi Pitbull,
Got your PM, thanks. The EP600 is equally effective whether it's in a vertical or horizontal orientation, but placement is still the determinant in achieving optimal coupling in your particular room relative to the listening area.
Just think of a subwoofer as a big air-pressure pump that's venting low-frequency energy into the room. How it does that, at least in the case of the EP600, doesn't seem to be critical. I've heard the EP600 in both configurations and there does not seem to be any difference in the quantity and extension of the bass. If you prefer the vertical orientation, then by all means get that model.
But you still need to experiment with placement, however, one factor going for the EP600 is that it's so powerful it seems the actual location seems to be less critical than with other subs.

I understand your concern, but I don't think you have to worry about getting it exactly centered (or even all that centered!) From the 500 and 600 that I've heard, localization has not been an issue.
