Dangit Rick, now I'm giong to have to get one.

So what made you pick the 2910 over others? Did you get a smokin deal?

Mike, actually I was looking at the Denon 1920 and the 2910, went with the 2910 due to the decoding features. Would like to have had the 2900 but I didn't want to buy used and for the price difference of $800.00(!) between the 2910 and 3910 the choice was obvious.
I pretty much had the Denon products in mind from the beginning due to all of the reviews and assessments from folks in several forums.
Whenever I receive it I'll keep you posted with my personal assessment of the unit!

Rick, I really like my 2910, but I'll be interested to know what experience you have with bass management for SACD and DVD-A. I'm finding the SW level somewhat confusing, and the extent of bass management for SACD unclear.

My first and only DVD-A from Seal seemed to work perfectly, but my first and only multi-channel SACD from Dolly Parton had way too much bass. I reduced the analog channel SW boost by 5db on my Denon 3805, and this seems to have fairly closely matched the bass level from the CD track. Now I need to check how my Seal disk plays with this change.

Montclair, my good friend Rick (Wid) has been telling me about the Outlaw ICBM bass management system and by some coincidence I was just checking it out on their site earlier this evening...I'm thinking it just may be the ticket in this particular situation.

ICBM

Just a mention. With my regular DVD/CD player I have the sub set to -2db whereas with my universal DVD/SACD/DVDaudio/CD player I have the sub set to -15db.
(you should've heard the bass before I adjusted it down this low. . .it was to say the least, ridiculous)

Congrats on your purchase. I just purchased one myself. Mine had a problem displaying progressive over component. Interlaced over component works fine. After some search, I found this:

Link to AVForums

I will be trying it out in a couple of days.

Good Luck.

Thanks Nat and Sssutherland! Nat I was checking that particular thread out just yesterday morning and I now have it bookmarked. Thanks for the info and I hope you'll have your working flawlessly soon!

From what I understand the 3910 has a better bass management system than the 2910, the folks over on the Audioholics and AVS forums claim an Outlaw ICBM is the ticket to enhance the bass management with the 2910 (and many other) DVD players. I do believe I'll be ordering one within the foreseeable future.

I hope you guys enjoy your 2910s!

Just a small update.

I burned the CD with the OS update. The update works flawlessly and takes one and a half minutes to complete. At the end, all problems disappeared. I am now very happy with the performance of the DVD player.

Good luck.
