It takes 14 seconds to change a disk while playing another. This is from the moment I push the button to the moment the other disk starts playing.
If I stop playing a disk, It'll start playing it again within 5 seconds (if the unit is on). If it's off, it takes 15 seconds to power up and start playing a disk after pushing the play button. It doesn’t take any longer switching back and forth between dvd or cd. It changes the disks pretty quick, 5 seconds; the rest of the time is loading time.
For more important news, I discovered a new mix last night. Don’t know what to call it yet, but it sure is tasty. Not so much at this moment, but it was good last night…..all of them.
2 Oz Capt Morgan spiced rum
1 Oz Orange Curacao
½ Oz Bombay Safire gin
1 Oz Dole orange/pineapple juice
Shake with ice until the shaker frosts over, then strain into a martini glass.

Cool. It's not quite what I hoped for, but it sounds like it's better than the Yammie. And since I have oh, what, 2 choices...
I'm leaning away from the Yammie; the only selling point is the video. And I don't have an HDTV. By the time I get one, I'll need new everything. Secrets just had a little article about the HDMI standard and plug changing again, too.
Sounds like a good drink, other than the gin.

I don't care for Gin either. I know it sounds odd, but just a splash of it really makes the drink.

Too bad there's not much choice in the way of universal DVD changers. I thought it was an obvious market niche that needed filling, but I guess I'm missing something.
I did some very quick and unscientific testing on disc change times in random (shuffle) mode for my Yamaha C750. When playing in random mode across discs, it takes about 15 seconds from the time the music stops on one disc, until you hear it on the next disc. The time is the same whether it's changing CD to CD, or CD to DVD-A. If you love playing in random mode, the Onkyo is probably a better bet.
I also started another experient a while back and it's still in progress, but so far the initial results are encouraging: it seems that consumption of sufficient quantities of Bombay Sapphire reduces the apparent load time of any multi-disc changer dramatically. What's amazing is that it seems to work regardless of the brand of disc changer. As you can imagine, something this interesting requires a great deal of further study.

Definitely. I'll have to see if this also holds true for sufficient mint juleps. I may expand the experiment to margaritas.

Don't forget Crown. Works wonderful. Try this...
fill a pint glass with ice.
fill it 5/8 full with crown royal
add a little amerato
top off with cranberry juice
give it a shake
enjoy.......it's my ol' stand by drink that never dissapoints me. I need to name it something as well.
might be time for a mix drink thread.........

If only I could find my margarita instructions. I made a list of ingredients up for my margaritas and a separate one up for my wife. Unfortunately, I have no idea what i did with it...

I have a few scratch margarita recipes that I screw around with. They’re actually just martini variations.
Here’s my favorite blended margarita mix….
Fill up blender with ice to the top.
Add ½ can of concentrated lime aid
Add ½ can of beer (any beer, but I prefer Guinness)
Fill it to the rim with any quality tequila you prefer ( for blended, I stick with Quervo gold and save the good stuff for the scratch drinks )
Blend it so the consistency will float a shot of Gran Marnee’ on the ice.
BTW….I can’t spell. ……….and I’m not an alcoholic….no really, I’m not.
