The below website is a great tool to help you determine the minimum height for your 2nd row riser in a home theater. I found this on AVS forum, and many have used it with success. If you follow the instructions, it will give you the minimum results for the riser so people in the back row will be able to see the entire screen. Some of the figures are already entered based on the average person, you can adjust them as needed.

That is pretty slick. In my old home theater, I did it the old fashioned way... I had someone sit in the front row seats, and then used blocks of wood and a stool to find the height of the head of the person sitting in the second row seats to see what height their head needed to be at, and then I just factored in the difference of the stool height and seating height and subtracted from the total height. I think I ended up with something like 11". I don't remember the exact distance of the seats and such, but my best guesses yielded a 13" riser for the 2nd row using your link. I didn't change the height of the heads on the web site, but I am a taller person, so that is probably why my method yielded a lower number. The calculator on that web site seems pretty accurate.

thanks Nick, I have been doing some preliminary testing, and I think this tool is very accurate. I was planning on a 10" riser, which is pretty close to what this says.
