I have received my speakers and they are wonderful, I am no where close to be knowledgeable about all these system. I have called axiom at least three or four times for various questions, wrote them e-mail about product they did not even make and they were wonderful every time. Mr. Lofft spent about 20-25 minutes on the phone with me helping me decide on TV, receiver and speakers, which was a turning point for me to make this purchase. As I Listen to these speakers more better it gets, experience of watching movies is entirely different now. Thanks to all the people at axiom making this a great experience. This is the great example of exceptional customer service.

My setup includes:

Samsung 56” DLP, 1080P, HL-R5678W
Denon AVR-3806
M60
VP100
QS4, 3 Speakers
EP175

Welcome to Axiom bbcpo I agree with you, Axiom will go way out of their way to help you, even on products they don't manufacture.

I just think it is great when a newbie jumps on the bandwagon Heck, wasn't that long ago that I was in your shoes, actually I still am a newbie when it comes to all of the technical stuff, I leave that to Alan, JohnK, Peter, TomT, Ajax, etc.....

When it comes to converting a company over to a paperless Enterprise Content Management System, I can help

The technical/calibration AV stuff I'm learning everyday I will admit, I am more up on Front Projection environments than the audio stuff.....

I notice you have the 350. How do you like it? Most of the reviews I read are with the whole system. I currently have the M60. I have a 350 on lay away. Another outstanding feature of Axiom if you ask me. Especially for those of us on a limited budget. It gives you the opertunity to get high quality in the long run. I am slowly migrating towards a whole Axiom system.

I really like my 350 a lot. However, I have been thinking about getting a second 350, or possibly a 500 if I can talk my wife into it. Our basement room overall is 30ft x 30ft with 9ft ceilings. I think a second sub would help blend the LFE's in that large of a room

Welcome, bbcpo.

I am sure you will enjoy your system. We like pictures, btw

I am especially interested in your impressions about your wonderful new HDTV. I hope that from perusing the forums you understand that we are somewhat less geeky than other internet watering holes, and would value your real-world, honest opinions about the experience. What was your frame of reference before the Samsung and the Axioms?

The Axiom staff are wonderful. Part of the allure of the company and these boards is a throwback to the time when you could build relationships with people you do business with. The Colquhouns espouse integrity and values. They take risks based on assuming goodness in people. They do the right thing. I want them to succeed for lots of reasons, not the least of which is to continue to prove to other companies that making the world a richer place and being profitable are symbiotic, not contradictory.

Randy is being too modest, and giving me FAR too much credit. My guiding premise has been to help where I can, and try to contribute positively to the forum culture. I lack the depth of technical knowledge of most regulars. We generally support each other, which makes this a good place. I have learned a lot, and value the friends I've made here. If you have some special expertise you care to share, please stick around and give us the benefit of your wisdom.

Oh, and be sure to calibrate your system with Avia, DVE or S&V and a Radio Shack SPL meter. It can make a big difference. Mostly, just relax and savor the moments of joy in the music and movies.

My frame or reference? That is a good question, I did not had one, I was looking at best buy and circuit city and started asking questions to sales guy, did not receive any satisfactory answers regarding TV selection, for speaker I was thinking of going with cube speaker because that what you see everywhere and everybody seems to know lot about it (do they really?). I started doing some research and stumble upon axiom website, that's where all started, now I am so glad that I did it.

TV is excellent when I see few HD channels available through my cable company, it is breath taking, regular TV is not as good, and HD content is excellent with depth of color and crisp image. Watching DVD is unbelievable specifically with Axiom speakers, I am using Denon 1920 DVD player which is connected to AVR-3806 with HDMI and receiver is connected to TV with HDMI. I really like the TV.

Thanks for suggesting calibrating my system, only problem is that I would not even know where to being with spl meter. I have used auto setup program which come built in with receiver and everything seems to be good but in back of my mind I know that it could be better, I don’t quite understand setting up cross over frequencies etc. although I am trying to educate my self by reading content on the Axiom website. Thanks.

The crossover is really pretty easy. It basically is the point at which the LFE (low freq. effects) get routed to the sub. THX standards, as well as most people around here usually set all speakers to small on the receiver speaker setup menu, and then place the crossover on the receiver to 80hz. What this does is send anything below 80hz to the sub for all speakers. Since the receiver is managing the crossover, you want to turn the crossover knob on the back of the sub all the way clockwise to the highest setting, so it is out of the way of the receivers managment. The volume on the sub can be anywhere from 11'oclock to noon position for starters. Also, I found that I liked to bump up my center channel dB level a few more positions form what the Auto Setup came up with, this makes it easier to hear the voices in movies. You can do this by pushing the round button on your remote while watching a movie, it will cycle through each speaker and show you the Auto Setup's original settings. The Denons also have a built in Room EQ process that is done during the setup process. It basically is a built in Equilizer that adjusts to your room conditions. I have found that it makes my M60's sound worse, with to much midrange, so I shut that off. You might want to see what you think sounds better. The Room EQ setting off/on is found in the Setup Menu....

That seems to be pretty darn common around here. You start out dazed and confused by the Big Box store experience, seek refuge and research on the web, somehow (you really never can remember how) you stumble onto axiomaudio.com, lurk in the forums a bit, ask some advice, and next thing you know there's a dozen boxes sitting in your living room. And if you are like most of us, you couldn't be happier. I was tempted for a moment by a certain company's product (company rhymes with "no highs, no LOWS," product sounds something like "acoustic mess"). I saw the light, and payed the same for an AVR-2805 AND my Axiom speaker set up as the cute little cube system, and wacka-DOO does it kick the other system's @ss!
