I'm nearing the completion of my home theater and am looking for ideas on movie marathons. Nickbuol has had a Lord of the Rings marathon, so you get the picture.
Here are a few ideas for starters:
Star Wars (probably would have to have a 123, and 456 party)
Terminator
Lord of the Rings

What about the Matrix trilogy? How about some concert dvds placed in between movies for an intermission.
Edit: Indiana Jones trilogy, Back to the Future (yea 2nd and 3rd ones were kinda bad). Die Hard (good explosions and stuff)

Legally Blonde 1 and 2 (okay, 2 wasn't nearly as good.) {giggles}. Seriously, second the Die Hards, and how about remakes? Italian Job - then and now?

Ok some more tips...bored at work
The Godfather Trilogy (of course 3 doesnt come close to 1 and 2).
Or instead of a trilogies why not have a Robert DeNiro marathon (ie. Godfather 2, Casino, Goodfellas, Raging Bull, etc.)
If you're into Anime then why not Ninja Scroll, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away! One of the best shows around is Samurai Champloo (hilarious with a great story line). Again, if you like anime then rent Samurai Champloo, Ghost in the Shell 1/2 or the series, and Appleseed for a QS8 workout.
Also, we had a marathon with the Spawn Ultimate Collection animated series (not to be confused with the lame Hollywood movies). This show used to air on Showtime or HBO and flat out rocks. It is definitely more adult themed so no kids. Starts out slowly in season 1 but gets REALLY good in S2 and 3. You can buy all 3 seasons for about $20-30 (great bargain)!
Once Upon A Time in China could also be considered. Or pretty much any TV show you like but those seasons can get long with hour long dramas.
I think you have more than enough suggestions from me and these will keep ya busy for a while to come.

What about the Matrix trilogy?
Or you could just watch the first one, enjoy it, and then jab a sharp pencil through your eyeball. Those four or five hours required to view "Reloaded" and "Revolutions" are hours you'll never get back.

From the Earth to the Moon and Band of Brothers. Dirty Harry. The "Man with No Name" trilogy, although the full verson or TGTBATU is 4 hours alone and these and DH aren't exactly going to push a 5.1 system. The Terminator series would rock the system.

Every time I read one of your posts that mentions porn, gay, or gay porn, I imagine some other forum member (or anon lurker) gasping. It cracks me up.

*gasp*
I remember watching "Zorro, the Gay Blade" when I was a kid. Although, I didn't understand the whole homosexual dynamic (I don't think my parents were up to explaining things) I thought Zorro's gay brother was a very funny guy. I haven't mey too many people who have seen that movie, or at least would admit to it.

When this thing hits 88 miles per hour, your gonna see some serious...
Toy Story 1 & 2,
Wayne's World 1 & 2 (well, 1 anyway),
How about the Blues Brothers Extended Ed. (long enough to count as 2 movies
Also, not trilogies yet but eventually:
Bourne Identity, Bourne Supremacy, Bourne Ultimatum
&
Pirates of the Carribbean + parts 2 and 3 (2006 and 2007, should be good).

Evil Dead
Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn
Evid Dead 3: Army of Darkness
Directed by Sam Raimi, before Spiderman. 1 was pretty scarry when I was a kid, though the effects are 20 years old. 2 was more of a remake, but very funny in parts. 3 had the biggest budget, but I don't remember it too well.
I'll probably regret posting this.

Not my favorites (which would be the Star Wars, Matrix and LOTR sets), but the Jack Ryan collection (Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Clear & Present Danger - The 4th with Ben Affleck is questionable) has been M.I.A. so far. Thought I'd drop it in for good measure.
Oh, and then there is always the Blade trilogy if not already mentioned.

>>Evil Dead
>>Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn
>>Evid Dead 3: Army of Darkness
I had real trouble getting through the first two Evil Dead movies. Not sure why. On the other hand, I could watch Army of Darkness three times back-to-back and call it a great trilogy

The movies work, but for a real MARATHON:
Stargate SG-1, 8 seasons, 56 disks, 4 episodes per disc
Star Trek Series (TNG, Voyager, Deep Space Nine) - Each are 7 seasons, 56 disks, 4 episodes per disc

I would have a "war theme" marathon. Your pick of war movie but I would def include Saving Private Ryan. Great movie to show off the system..

I can not believe no one has suggested the Police Academy marathon....no no i think you could do better than that.
My vote for Band of Brothers, or depending on how long you have could do a Quentin Tarantino marathon:
Pulp Fiction
Reservoir Dogs
From Dusk Till Dawn
True Romance
Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2
I just finished watching Kill Bill again on the weekend and i must say those are two outrageously funny, uniquely written movies that don't get a lot of respect. Plus in the 1st one, there was a great surround sound moment. I can't remember exactly when, but a fly started buzzing around, overhead and back again. Really lifelike.

I just finished watching Kill Bill 1 & 2 for the first time
a couple of weekends ago. Great stuff. I agree with you on all of your assessments regarding this movie.
My 2cents:
(1)Pirates of the Caribbean.
(2)Master and Commander.
(3)The Count of Monte Cristo.(2002)

It would be a shame to restrict your movie marathons to only films that show off your system. There are so many great movies out there.

There were licensing issues surrounding Evil Dead 1 and 2 for about 12 years. I got lucky and got it on VHS before it became unavailable. AoD was less of an issue because Sam and Bruce had enough money to make it that they did not have to let some yahoo who cared more about money than fans finance it.
Oh, and Sam and Bruce are allowing a remake of Evil Dead, though neither will be in the film nor direct it. Not sure how much I'll want to see that.
Yes, I am a fan...

Yeah, but Randy is looking for something to watch on his newly-completed system. And we all know that when a system is new, the icing is more important than the cake!

Yeah, what Mark said. I was merely suggesting a seagoing, action/adventure combination of movies to watch.
