I am in the middle of building my ht room, question is this. What are the best cables I can get for the money. I need to make about a 35 ft run to my tv. The wires I need are hdmi, component, and sub line cable. Everyone says I need 12 gage speaker wire. Will I notice any difference between 12 gage and 14 gage? Will I notice any difference in picture quality with cheaper cables. I don't want to seal up my walls and find out my picture is horrible. What cables are fine for my applications that will give me excellent picture and sound without draining my budget. Thanks everyone.

As far as speaker wire goes, I'll refer to this diagram/chart. It pretty much tells the tail and paints the picture pretty clear.

As for HDMI cables, I'd check here and here.
The second link lists the DVI to HDMI cables first, scroll down to get to the HDMI cables.

JH, ditto to the suggestions made by Sutter, and for an interesting comment on the wire charlatans note this review by Don from Texas on the Monoprice site.

Sutter, the Ram cables are $152 and $162 and the Monoprice cables are, and have been out of stock in the 35' lengths that jhunt17 is looking for.
Jhunt17, I'm also in the process of running 40' lengths of cables out to my TV and I'm buying my HDMI cable from these folks, they are in stock, priced very good and have the right lengths. For the component cables my local A/V dealer gave me a spool of Tributaries RG6DSC cables to bring home and cut to the required lengths, I'll then take the cut cables and remaining spool back to the dealer where they will put the required connectors on the ends and charge me accordingly by the amount of cable I used from the spool. I'm running an extra pair cables with RCA connectors to the TV just in case I may need it in the future.
I just bought a 250' spool of 12 gauge speaker wire at Lowes for $67.

Rick, can you point out where they list 40' HDMI cables, cause I'm not seeing them.
I see they have a 10m cable which is about 32.8', and a 15m which is 49.2', but that's all I'm seeing. I myself need a 40' run. Anything less will be too short, and anything more would be too much.

Sutter you are right they do not list a 40' cable. I'm getting the 15M cable for my 40' run, I've got room for the extra cable in an enclosure under my equipment rack.
Edit...After re-reading my above reply I suppose it may have sounded like I was getting 40'cable lengths but no I am getting the 15M cable. I was trying to point out above that Monoprice was out of the longer runs and Ram was a little pricey with their cables.

I highly recommend BlueJeansCable. No bullsh!t. High-quality materials and workmanship, competitive prices. 40' HDMI $163.75 here.
