hey guys, got a questions.

1 is there any difference between the music you download from imesh, etc... on the internet versus cd you buy from a retail store??

2 if you were to download music, what are couple of things you need to know (like the bigger the file, the better the sound quality???)

thanks

Downloaded music is usually in another format like MP3 for example. The files will very in size, based on compression and the bitrate used. 128kbps is normally the lowest I go for MP3's, as any lower and you start to lose quality. The higher you go, the better the quality, but the larger the file size. Many programs will allow you to rip the music in its native CD Audio format so you won't lose any quality, the file will be much bigger though, compared to MP3 or WMA. Also, it is illegal to download music if you don't pay for it, thought I'd let you know.

A burned CD is as good as the mp3 it was burned from.

It is pretty easy to tell the difference between a 128 kbps mp3 and an original CD.

You should really try to shoot for 192 or even a 256 VBR rate if you want to get much closer to CD quality.

There are oodles of articles on the internet about this, just do a google search for comparisons.
