I really envy you guys who have the Grado 125s and enjoy them! I have never even heard ANY Grados, and here I go buying a set!!
To make it all the worse; I have no idea of when they may even get to my house!
To get the Alessandro version of Grados you almost have to join an exclusive club consisting of those who "sit and wait".
Seems that "Alessandro" is a very small organization; maybe only two or three folks, who may as likely be out jammin' at a gig as back home runnin' the business. So shipping times can run anywhere from three days to three weeks, or longer!!
It is universally considered to be worth the wait however by those who have purchased them.....or so I'm told.
I ordered them last weekend. This has been(is)a long, long weekend.
I had spent a couple weeks researching on various forums, actually. The "Head-fi" forum is a fun place; lots of good stuff. It appears that Grado is the closest thing to Axiom M2 thru M80s in over-all presentation, so that's cool; while the Grado/Alessandros are more akin to the M3 sound.
I can't, hovever, recommend that anyone go visit the Head-fi web site.
They give two pieces of sage advice.
"Buy your headphones, leave the forum and never return"
Or...
"Sorry about your wallet"
These guys(and gals)are true "Fanatics"
Lower priced Grados and Alessandros are openly called "Gateway Drugs"
It's scarry!!
Don't go there!

In my misspent youth you might say I dabbled in the "gateway". I never felt compellled to move on to bigger and better(?) things. Same thing goes for my Grado's. I am extremely satisfied. I would also say you are correct about the tonal match. They are very similar to listening to my 60's. Don't be scared!

I think you will be very happy with your choice, Alessandro combined with Grado, I don't think you can go wrong.

So, is this better than a recycled Birthday Card, or what? Just wanted to get the jump on the big festivities tomorrow, Sean. I don't always frequent the boards on weekends, so wanted to make sure I got a chance to send timely good wishes your way. It's like the perfect alcohol storm - Birthday, St. Patrick's Day, Saturday. When would you like your wakeup call on Sunday? I hope your day is happy, and that the coming year is full of blessings.

So Sean - just to try and "re-hijack" the thread - Habby B-Day! They seem to come faster each year.

What a resurrection of a thread! Thank you, Tom and Ray, for the pre-birthday wishes. Took the day off today. Just came back from running all my errands, and now I've got some serious time-wasting to catch up on. Couch, here I come! Oh, and Tom, about that wake-up call on Sunday morning. . .I will find out where you live. . .

Happy Birthday again, Sean. Imagine that, you aged 2 years in the same thread.

I'm confused (my normal state). Is your birthday tomorrow (St. Pats day), or Sunday, or the 19th? Well, DUH! What difference does it make. Have a very happy birthday, Sean.

Happy birthday, Sean. I used up all my wit on the last birthday wish I gave, so you'll just have to make do with this virtual pint, raised skyward.
