Is it better to switch my sub on and off with an outlet switch or leave it plugged in when not in use? My sub does not have an on/off switch.
Do I say on the life of components when I use an outlet switch?
Will the power LED last longer if it is not on all the time? Or do I do more harm by switching it on and off?

Most subs without power switches have an auto on/off internally. What model of sub are you thinking about ?

LEDs will outlive all of us, even after the cockroaches. You only need to worry about the amplifier electronics and power supply.

Can you tell us more about your sub, like brand? My EP 500 is on all the time, but plugged into a TrippLite surge/conditioner.

My subwoofer is an athena as-p400 (model prior to the recent as-p4000).

Your sub has Auto-On/Off with Dual colored LED status, which tells me to leave it plugged in and on.

In general, do you save on the life of the component when you unplug it or switch it off at the outlet after using it?

In general, yes, but the amount of extra life gained is likely not very significant. The power supplies of today's components are pretty robust, and standby modes draw very little electricity.
