Ok, brought home my TV and TV Stand. I'm sitting there thinking about how to position everything and I realize that there is no way I am going to be able to put anything but the Center Channel below the TV. I'm getting the VP150. This thing is so tall that I won't have room to add the shelf / receiver as well. Receivers themselves are monsters these days.
Question, can I mount the Center on the wall above the tv ? Will i lose some of the effect if it is a good 18 inches back from the tv? How have the rest of you solved this problem? I just bought a generic TV Stand with one glass shelf on it.
Thanks for any info.

You will want your center speaker to be closer to the front of the t.v. then 18" back. I think you would notice it pushed back like that. Maybe something like THIS would work for you.

As long as it's well clear of the top of the TV, then you should be ok with it on the wall.

Your center channel should be aligned as close to flush as possible with your mains for optimum sound. You may want to try something like this that mounts directly on the TV. OmnimountSome of these mounts may not work with some of the new thin LCD's and Plasmas.

I just purchased the Sony KDF50e2000. By the looks of the center channel mounts and the slope of the rear of the tv, I don't think any of those options will work for me.
Thanks for the ideas though.

Maybe a FMB would work above your TV.

That was my first thought as well, but as mentioned earlier in this thread, I have my tv 12" - 18" from the wall so i have ample ventilation and cable management space. Other users thought the center might be too far from the tv to get the full effect as intended.
I think I'm going to have to just give up and put the Center below the tv and buy some kind of equipment rack to go on the side that will hold the rest of my equipment.
Thanks again for the ideas.

I know exactly what you mean.
Congrats on the new TV. Enjoy!
