Trying to decide on a new receiver for my soon to arrive axioms M60's, 150, QS8's and SVS cylinder 20-39 PCI sub. Should I get the inexpensive Denon 1900 or less line or the more expensive 2800 or 3800 series. The main differences that I see are the HDMI switching and XM radio. I could take or leave the XM. Not sure if the HDMI switching is important to me or not as I have never had it. I suppose I could run the HDMI from the cable box to the projector and run the DVD player on component to the projector. My other concern is sound performace and if it is going to make that much of a difference in the sound quality. My budget is starting to get tight as I spend quite a bit more than planned on chairs (got the power recline and buttshakers). Thanks for your assistance.

Do you see yourself buying a HD-DVD or BluRay player in the next year or two? If the answer is yes I would wait until Denon intergrates the new hi def surround codecs into their avr's.

So if I plan on buying the HD DVD or Blu Ray, do you suggest a Yammy or something else?

No, none of the manufacturers have the codecs yet. Hold off buying now or buy cheap with the intention of replacing in the near future.

There are a number of Denons and H/Ks on Ubid Receivers to get you started if you want to wait for the latest and greatest.

I bought mine B-stock there.

Bear in mind that lots of us don't run our video through the receiver.

I've had good luck with this dealer. Very good customer service, and they sell HK's cheap.

I'd look at one of the lower cost HK's with HDMI switching. I'm beginning to think that's pretty important nowadays. Especially if you have a projector.
