As posted previously, I've recently acquired the following system: Denon 2807, Denon DVD-1930CI DVD, Epic 60-500 plus 2 x M2i rears. I'm now looking for a large screen TV (can't go with a projector for wife reasons), but because the room is large (seating is 15ft from screen), I need at least 50" and preferably 60"+. Current first choice is the Sony KDS-60a2000, the Pioneer 5070HD (would love the 60", but it is too expensive), the Panny TH-50PX6U, the Toshiba 62" DLP (Costco). Obviously the plasmas are 720p, so I'm leaning toward the rear projection alternatives with 1080p. Thoughts, suggestions?

Thanks,
Tom

Take a look at Samsung DLPs and Sony SXRDs. Good reviews from forum users.

I've had the Toshiba 62" for about a year and a half and love it. The bulb is about $200 to replace which is cheaper than some. Mine is a 1080i and I thought about moving up to Toshiba's 72" which is now 1080p, but I think I am going to hold off and get a projector when I get my new room built. If you shop around you should be able to get the 62" for around $1600.

Tom, go with the Sony.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

I've had the Sony (50" version) for 1-2 months now and it's been good. Nice picture, no issues...I'd recommend it.

Hi tpb,

Take a look at Mitsubishi's new 1080p DLP 52-inch and its larger siblings. The picture is outstanding, and its the only DLP I've recently seen where I could not spot any rainbow effects even when I tried to see them.

I have a sony a 50" sony, KDFE-50A10 and love it. I don't know of too many input sources that give you 1080p.. so I don't think that 1080p is worth the money.

However.. if going DLP, I think the Mits TV's are by far the best.. and the 1080p sets are the only ones worth considering.

If going LCD RP, I love the sony's.. the SXRD technology is interesting as well.. I just couldn't justify the extra cost for lack of 1080p inputs to the TV.

I just bought a Panny 50" and I love it! I hung it on the wall and just ordered my speakers today, so can't wait.
I'd go with a panny, as I did ALOT of research. The Pioneer is best plasma, but too much money as you say. Panny is runner up from what I've read though.
