I’m building a theater room in my basement and I’m ready to put up my drywall. I want to figure out all my speaker placements before I put up all the wallpaper, so I can place the speaker wire.

My room is 17 x 12 (couch will be against the back wall) with only little over a 7" ceiling. I will be using a projector with a 92” screen. I wanted to put the M22’s on the side of the screen, but I have a closet to one side of the screen which will not allow me to place a speaker to one side. Do you think that I can put the M22’s on the side below the screen? Will it sound different on the side. I would then put my center (I’m thinking about the VP150 over the VP100) probably above the screen; maybe below if there is room between the M22's.

I’ll also be getting the EP350 for the sub and the QS4’s for my surround for my 5.1 setup.

you'll want the M22's tweeters to be at ear level at the listening position when you are sitting, and on the same level. I find the VP150 will work best at the same level, but can be put lower or higher, tilted to aim at ear level at the listening position.

Park, welcome. From the size of the screen, it appears that the M22s would be separated by no more than about 6' if placed beneath it. If you're going to be sitting about 15' away, it'd be desirable if the M22s could be separated nearly that same distance. Is there no room at all on the side with the closet to place the speaker?

Which wall is your screen going on? It is widely recommended that you put your screen on the short wall because it produces better sound in a longer room rather than a shorter room.

Since your drywall is not up yet, you still may have some options to switch things up.

I also agree with this idea. That is the same size that my room is right now. I just purchased the M22's, VP150 and QS8's to go with my Outlaw LFM-1 right before Christmas. My TV is on the long wall since my living room setup will not allow the TV to be placed on the short wall. But, if I had a dedicated room I would absolutely want the projector screen on the short wall. With this placement your couch doesn't have to be up against the back wall. So your surrounds won't need to be positioned almost in the corner in either the side wall or back wall. So the surrounds should be MUCH more enveloping. Also, in that small of a room even if you use the long wall for the seating area, there will still be only about 3 good seats sound-wise, which is about the size of a couch. But you can move that couch to the on to the short wall, but 4 or 5 feet off of the back wall (the surrounds placed 1 or 2 feet behind you on the side walls) and all of those seats should sound much better because of the placement of the surrounds. Heck, you may even be able to purchase a third qs8 or qs4 and have a 6.1 setup. I bet the single qs speaker would sound great as a surround rear since the tweeters fire at about 45 degree angles.
