Hi everyone!
Excited about receiving my Axioms. I'm thinking of pairing them up with a yamaha receiver. Is this a good combo? Kind of a newbie when it comes to home theater.
Thanks

What speakers did you order? You will find that any decent receiver from any manufacturer will work fine, well, stay away from Sony. Just joking.

I ordered M60s, VP150, QS8s Thinking of the yamaha RX-V1700 along with an HSU VTF3 to complete my system.

Pretty much the same system I started with a few years back. Started with m60's vp150 ep350 and 4 Qs8's A year later upgraded to the ep500 sub Recently upgraded to m80's and the ep600 sub. Welcome by the way, you will enjoy your Axioms...

Never considered sony as a receiver and to be honest not interested. Looking at yamaha, onkyo marantz etc. I hope to audition a few in the following days. Mojo, efharisto megale

Zo, another welcome. There's no reason to be concerned about "matching" a receiver to speakers; competently designed units are suitable(within their power limits)for all speakers. If by "audition" you meant listening for sound differences, this is pointless, since any difference heard can be the result of numerous other factors, not any inherent "sound" of the receiver. The 1700(among others)would be an excellent choice.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

I'm in the same boat (M80, Qs8, VP150). They are in the mail as we speak. Along with my Emo LPA/LMC combo....
The only pontential party pooper is my HSU sub. The VTF3-HO was backordered. They are expecting them in this week. The only thing is I might hold off on firing up my Axioms until the sub gets here. I want the whole enchilada assembled so it will blow me away.
Its going to drive me crazy to do this...see all the equipment sitting here and refusing to turn it on. LOL, I'm weird that way.

Zorikos You should try out the Sherwood Newcastle stuff from Axiom. Not sure if the return is the same as there speakers but......... or as I think Huztal directed me too Outlaw. I have a Denon 3803 and it works fine, but think I am going to try the Outlaw mono's ...one at a time

John, I respectfully disagree, there is a huge difference in sound from one reciever/pre/pro to the next. I just switched from a Yamaha Rx-V2500 to the the EMO DMC1 and the sound is not even in the same ballpark. Where did you come up with this notion? Chris
