 Connecting DVD and HDTV through receiver

Don't want to reinvent the wheel, but I'm having a dummy attack on how to properly connect my Denon 1930ci DVD player through my receiver pioneer vsx-81 tx and to my PDP-5070 HDTV.. I would like to take the route of HDMI from my DVD player to me receiver and HDMI out to my HDTV.. Question? will I still get the sound of 5.1 with all the bells and whistles???..I'm set up for that

Just saw your question. Yes, you will get all the bells and whistles. HDMI will transmit anything your DVD player can throw at it and your 81 should be able to decode it all as well.
