Bridgman,

excellent point. I had neglected to take into account what type of music he would be listening to.

I went and ordered a Vp150 from the "Seconds" department today ... After much reading here and on other forums it would seem bigger is better in the centre dept much as is the case in the sub department.. With a 2 week wait for cherry .. I will have time to mull over my decesion about mains .. I have aways "wanted" tower speakers but with the reviews of the M22 I wonder if they will be sufficeint for my needs.. Thanks for the imput so far..

Stan, my view is that the M22s, when supported by a good sub such as your VTF-3, should be entirely sufficient in your size room. They certainly have met my needs for over five years now.

I've had both and have the M60s now. I would suggest the M60s, and you won't have to think about 'what if'.

Yup; save a bit longer and get the M60s, don't give that Upgraditus bug a chance! Once it bites, the fun is over.

You would need the M80s to not wonder "what if"

..Yes the "what if" factor is already getting to me .. hence the 150 over the 100.. I am sure that as it gets closer to "purchase" time the 60's will pull me in .. Axiom posted a tracking link on my account info today .. but no # yet.. but it has only been 1 day and the wait said 2 week's .. It just got me a little excited ..

It's probably easier to EQ the 60s to behave like 50s than it is to EQ the 50s to behave like 60s, for what it's worth. Good call on the VP150 -- it's just more versatile with no real downside other than size. There's no "downside" to M60s either unless you listen more to the radio than to good recordings.

For some reason I find Q107 sounds really good late at night but pretty dead during the day. A few people have suggested that the stations apply more compression during the day to support car radio listeners, then expand the dynamic range out at night when people are listening on better systems and on headphones. No idea if this is the case for the mighty 'Q.

Avdude, if you want to stop by some time I can demo 60s vs. 40s for you. The 50s sound kinda half way between the two, predictably. I'm just north of Mosport racetrack.

Only problem is that radio & TV reception is sucky up here so you'll either need to bring recordings you know or tape some Q107 before you come over
