my M3ti is coming (cant wait!), and now i'm modifying my on-desk speaker stand. An question just poped up in my head. How do y'all guys break in your speakers?

Beofre, i broke in my previous spks with some soft piano music in lo-to-mid volume. about 2~3 days (approx 40hrs). did i do it right?

Mark

you may right Mr. Sirquack, i was told by other expert that just keep listen to it. But for how long?

you know, breaking in a car is totally diff with breaking in a speaker. I could probably tell it's already broken in after couple oil changes... how about speakers?

You do not need to break in your speakers, just turn it up and enjoy. The speakers were already broken in at the factory to make sure it works, etc.

Mark, this is yet another of the audio mythologies that continue to float around. Keeping in mind that a woofer cycles hundreds of times and a tweeter thousands of times in the very first second of operation, any initial break-in has already happened in the first minute or so when the speakers were tested at the factory. If you haven't seen it, study this excellent analysis by Mark Sanfilipo in Audioholics .

It's sometimes been said, perhaps not entirely tongue-in-cheek, that "Break-in was invented so that we could never return anything!".

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

However, that does not apply to my Odyssey amps that carry a 20year warranty.

That doesn't mean you can return them just repairs....from their website

"....no-nonsense standard warranty of 20 years for all parts. Labor is inclusive for the first 2 years, and after that time period, we'll be charging a shop rate of $20/hour for registered customers. The same shop rate applies to all repairs that are not covered under the terms of the standard 20 year warranty for all registered owners."

Unless there is more to their warranty than they list on the website.

So you've had the opportunity Jason to talk to Klaus, and your aware of how he bends over backwards for his customers like Axiom?
