Tight ass

that was a joke,btw

The few times I've seen Axioms on audiogon the savings over new hasn't been enough to justify going used IMHO. When you start out with a bargain, there ain't much room for depreciation. Suck it up, and get 5 speakers from the FO for 15% off. If the ole man needs motivation, price him some paradigm studio series, a comparable speaker at triple the price.

Holler, welcome. Nice story, and I certainly understand your enthusiasm since I've been enjoying beautiful music on my M22s for over five years now.

As duckman pointed out, keep in mind that if you take advantage of the 10-15% discounts available at the Axiom outlet, plus the free shipping, you may find that it's difficult to find a significantly better overall deal.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

My dad is a funny guy - it's not that he's cheap, he's just stubborn. It's not my money so I can't really argue with him.

We moved the old tv (65" rear projector in the first post) to the new expansion in our house (along with the old receiver) so he's going to need some speakers.

I told him it would be best to buy QS-4s to replace the Bose in the theater and stick the cubes in the new room. We'll see if he bites

Your dad has a good head on his shoulder it sounds, so I would assume getting a 5 year warranty standard versus no warranty buying used would be something he should consider. If you buy used and something technically is wrong with the speakers, tuff luck. My guess is the 15% would be pretty close in price, to finding a good quality used Axiom speaker on Ebay or Audiogon, and considering the warranty and customer service after the sale, it is no brainer.

Marksanctuary just finished a hearing comparison between QS8s and Bose cubes right here. Show your dad that and ask him why he wants to continue to punish his auditory senses now that he knows there is a better alternative .

Well if you show him that, he may want to get QS8s then! This would be a classic example of how audio budgets really mean nothing in the end...
