Yep I got a lot of good info from you and on here.
I really want some big nasty subs. I just hope I can make it sound right with the subs being on the TV wall. I have full run of that wall only lol. I want either dual svs new ultras, dual axiom ep 500 or 600's, or dual Elemental designs a7-700/600 or a5-350

have you calibrated your subs and all speakers with an SPL meter? What you desire may be able to take place, but all speakers must be calibrated to experience what you are describing...Also, putting down a nice throw rug infront of your couch will really help tame the first reflection zones from the M80s...(if your boss will let you ) Edit again, since you have full control over that front wall...you might think about getting some bass traps in those corners...your room is VERY live because of your flooring, bass traps will help getting your "desired" killer sub sound.

A rug is in the plan...just have to find one.
So far I have used the spl meter but only using the test tones built into the reciever. I need to still find my avia dvd....its packed up somewhere. I also want to try both subs corner loaded. I need to do work with them...but I always want more bass.
How far appart is best on the m80's if your sitting 12-14 feet away from them?
EDIT...I dont have that much control lol...bass traps wouldnt fly.

Ideally if you are 12-14' then the speakers should be 12-14' apart. You are trying to make an equlateral triangle between you and the speakers. But more toe in/out can adjust for spacial issues as most of us have.
Forgot to mention its a very nice room. Those QS's look along way up!

That room looks awesome. You may want to experiment with moving the subs into the corners, tilting the 150 down a bit and moving the 80s further into the room. Let us know how it sounds when you've tweaked a bit.

The center is tilted slightly....the back of it has rubber feet the front does not. I am also going to play with all the speakers more. I need longer wire so I can move them around more. Yeah the qs8's are way up there...I was worried aboutmounting them so high. They are 11' up. They seem to sound prettty good.
I need to find my avia dvd....or I just need to order the new HD one.

11' that is way up there. I wonder if you could make an extension for the mounts and drop the QS's a little more if need be. Some threaded rod and couplers may work.

I love the Q's...even tho they are 11' off the ground, and roughly 7.6' above your heads when seated, they still sound great! Axiom has a great design there. I imagine the bottom woofer on this surround REALLY helps out in your room.

Yeah they are only 7 1/2 feet from your ears so not to bad. I have them angled as much as they can so they fire at the seating area almost. They are about 19' from each other and the couch is 8'. I might try not tilting them as much and see if that changes anything. I havent watched anything major yet but the regular hd tv stuff so far has been good.

Now that you mention HDTV, I am amazed at how good PLII sounds with standard cable. It's like DD5.1. I wish I could get that same effect with music. It probably has to do with how TV programs are miked I'm sure.

I am looking forward to getting PLII. My old onkyo just has 5.1 DD and DTS. For music I will really miss my onkyo 5 ch stereo. I dont like just useing the 2 mains and subs. I want all the speakers rocken. I dont think I will like PLII for music....

Never heard it before. All I really have listened to is DD and dts in 5.1 and the music and non DD/DTS tv shows in 5 ch stereo.
What does neo:6 do for the sound...I have seen it a bunch but never found out what it does exactly. Is it a 6ch sound like DTSEX

It is the DTS equivalent to ProLogic II. I don't like it too much (at least for classical music); I always feel it is "too central" for my taste, but I am glad my receiver can do it. I found myself in the past few weeks changing settings and algo once in a while (including using Neo:6!).
They all have a diffent feel, which means that, when changing and re-configuring, you end up experiencing different "rooms". It is quite nice. I have thus stopped finding the "perfect surround settings" for me and have rather started to enjoy changing (they are all good, it is just a matter of taste). I also have Neural-THX.

Neo6 utilizes multi-channel just like PLIIx but, like Eric says, it has a more central, more "up-front" rather than surround presentation. I don't like it either and now I exclusively use PLIIx. When you use PLII, make sure you disable the wrap-around effect so that you hear ambience rather than the band wrapped around you.

I much prefer Neo6 to DPLII. Perhaps I should go back and try it again, though. I found DPLII to be too laid back with my H/K and the M50s. Haven't touched it since I got the M80s.

Use your ears to do the final calibration. For whatever reason, I found that my meter didn't respond correctly to my right side speakers because I have an opening going up the stairs. So I tweaked them by ear.

Mine will never sound right, because of the poor positioning (slightly too far ahead of the listening position). Oh well...

Yep I know they are running off a samson 1000. The 500's are front firing, ported on the front, and have that dsp stuff so maybe they have more kick than the svs. They are on the low end of the list tho. I would rather the 600 or the svs ultra 13, or maybe one of those ED audio subs. I keep looking at the price of the ed a5-350. Only 600 bucks and has a 15" with roughly the same amount of power I have now to a 12....then I would have extra $ for a sm-1. Then there is the a7-600 that has dual 15's and 1300w. But that sucker is BIG....but not as big as the dual 18 one!

Well...you have to keep in mind the music I like. I listen anything but conuntry more or less but I mostly listen to rap, bass, and techno with some hevey metel thrown in from time to time. So a pair of 18's would be very musical for me lol

He said he likes the place booming(more or less) when I said I didn't think any of the subs he mentioned would be very musical with their huge diameters. Some just like it LOUD.

GT your place is very nice and you did the right thing by planning ahead with the in-wall conduit, congrats!
I *was* going to comment on your QS8s but I see that has already been covered, I'm glad they are working out for you up there.

Yeah thats really the only spot for them. On the side walls theres doors and windows in the way...and the back wall by the arche is thick with wood. Too hard to run wire even with no drywall!
