When setting up speaker distances on the reciever.

Should you put in the distance from your ear to the speaker or should you account for the speaker wire too? My surrounds are only like 5 feet away but theres 25ft or wire to get them there. Any thoughts on this?

Disregard the wire. It's the physical distance from the speaker to your ears.

...and that is because, in 1 millisecond, sound travels ~1 feet through air, while the electrical signal travels ~170 miles through copper.
