Hello everyone. Well I purchased a nice 2 story 2400sqft. home. Now, straight to the home theater questions! I am going to be using one of the bedrooms as a theater room. The room is 16x18, is this room adequate enough for a projector in the future? My main question is what kind of rack setup or stands (what ever you want to call them) are available for my receiver,t.v.,cd player, dvd player ,etc..? I have a 27" sony flatscreen.
Would it be worth it to buy one of these online or just go to the local circuit city and buy one of those cheaper ones?

Congrats on your new home, Franco!!!

A room size of 16x18 is perfectly good for a front projector setup. The front projection gives you a complete flexibility with regard to the location of the electronics rack(s) -- it can go along the front wall, either besides (a narrow, vertical rack) or beneath (a low, horisontal rack) the big screen, or along the side or back walls. I would first decide on the approximate size and location of the screen, and then start arranging various placements from there.

Personally, I always recommend online sources over BB, CC type of stores -- there are far wider varieties, which you can research to your heart's content online. I seem to remember that chesseroo (who is currently taking a leave of absense from this forum ) and several others were doing some serious research on audio racks.

For relatively inexpensive racks, RacksAndStands.com is a good place to start.

Go to CC and BB and do a little wheeling and dealing with a demo model. I just got $700.00 off a rptv that way.

Fry's in Anaheim has quite a few different racks and I saw 3 or 4 demos that were being clearanced out. Might be worth a look.

think about one with a cable management system too, some stands -without a place to hide your wires -look great on display ,standing alone or with components that are not connected to each other.then when you get it home and set it up,you end up with a spaghetti nitemare you may not like,as for price,if its surdy and you like the way it looks go for the less expensive one...[this way you will have more money for kimber cables that you can biwire your speakers with, and make sure to give your new stand a good 100 to 200 hours of "break in time"to really get the full effect].......like sushi does........just kidding...good luck....ron
