Looking at buying a set of one of these speakers, I was wondering which would be the better bet, I mostly use them for music and occasionally a movie, They wll be run using a Yamaha RXV-530 reciever with a sub if that makes an difference. Unfortunately I can't hear them myself beforehand being in Newfoundland Canada so I was looking to make an informed decision based on what ye have to say. Thx for any and all input.

Phil

If you like highly detailed music, the M22ti is for you.

If you like a more laid back sound, get the M3ti.

Enjoy!

Phil, you should probably take a look at the reviews of the M3s and M22s which can be found easily at ecoustics.com. The SoundStage reviews which include NRC measurements are especially worthwhile. In general it can be said that the the M22s have a bit flatter lower midrange and a little more clarity. The M3s have a small bump in the upper bass which creates an impression of greater "fullness", especially if used without a sub. I have the M22s and they're about as good as it gets in that type of speaker, regardless of price.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

What do you tend to like in a speaker? Have you heard any other speakers that you liked?

I have the M22tis and I bought solely off the online reviews I read. I'm glad I didn't go with the M3ti.

I like a fairly bright, clear speaker with lots of detail, I have heard the PSb 2b's and do like them except for their tendancy to get harsh at high volume.

The only thing bright about the M22s is the way they out shine other speaker brands including some that are 3 or 4 times the price. I find the M22s neither "bright"(tipped up in the treble) nor "warm"(tipped up in the mid bass) nor laid back(just muddy sounding). They are highly accurate and well balanced yet non fatiguing. I use them in a 2 ch. setup and the voices are very clear and a joy to listen to. Imaging and sound stage are remarkable also. The Axioms are extremly hard to beat in thier perspective price ranges. To audition them will only cost you the price of return shipping if you don't like them (everyone that has heard mine like them).

I bought the M22s fully expecting to return them because, after all, how good can a US$360.00 pair of speakers sound? I liked them so much that I kept them and I must say that I have three other speaker sets that cost much more than the Amioms.

Btw, I think that if you listen to any speakers at "high volume" for a long time they will all sound harsh(fatiguing) after a while.

Good luck!

Take JohnK's advice and visit ecoustics.com and soundstage.com. Another good place is audioreview.com.
