Any of you guys have the $500ish Harmony 1000 universal remote?
I'm trying to decide on the 1000 or the new Harmony One and would like some comments from owners.
Thanks!

Is that a rather large touch screen?
I met a dude at a Super Bowl party last night that was explaining a Harmony touch screen remote that he had, didn't know the details because his system was installed by pro installers. Said he loved the thing.

I have one of the old Sony touch screens and what I didn't like about it was that I had to hold it with both hands, and I had to look at the screen when I wanted to do something. The Harmony remotes I have know I can use them with one hand in the dark and I have memorized all the buttons, so I don't to look.
Just my opinion....

Thanks! Were I you, I would *SERIOUSLY* consider URC line of products instead of the Harmony line. To me, it's not even a fair fight. At least have a look at the URC remotes, before deciding.

I have to add my agreement to the URC comment as well. Just incredibly more powerful and flexible. The $500-ish figure gets you right to the MX-980. Take a look at some of the reviews written about it.

Since I already know that you are sufficiently technically competent. ( I forget who told me that. ) I also suggest the URC line. I highly recommend the Harmonys for most people I know as they do a wonderful job of simplifying things for the majority of the public who just want a quick fix without getting too technical themselves. However, anyone who spends time fidgeting with sound gear so much they they actually hang out on a speaker web board, is probably going to eventually start fidgeting with their remote to make it perfect as well. For which you needed the extra customization and control the URC line gives you. They also have some nice one-handed touch screen models as well.
With great power comes Awesome irresponsibility.
