QS8 or M22 as surround; M40 or M22 as mains?

Hello all.
Currently, I have the M22ti as my front L and R, the VP150 as center, and the HSU VTF2. I have enjoyed this combo but I want to replace an old pair of Technics speakers that I've been using as surround speakers. I'm considering three options:

1)Buy a pair of QS8 and use them as surrounds.

2)Buy a pair of towers (probably M40ti's) to put in front and mount the M22ti's in the rear as surrounds.

3) Buy a pair of M22ti's and use a system of 4 M22's and the VP150.

How does the M40 compare to the M22 as mains?
How does the QS8 compare to the M22 as surrounds? Is the "quadpolar" design of the QS8 really effective for immersive surround sound? And does the QS8 still sound good with music in 5.1?

Those of you with some experience with these, what would you recommend?

I'm using a Denon 3802, my room is small (12' X 16') but I would like to buy speakers that would also work in a larger room should I moves soon. My use is 50/50 HT and music.

Thanks for your time, any input would be helpful.

My personal opinion here would be to buy the QS8's.

They are meant to be surrounds, and are great at it. Out of the setup I have (M22's, QS8's, and vp150), I will have to say I am happiest w/ the QS8's, not because they sound better or reproduce music more accurately, but because they are great at truly creating the surround environment.

Thanks for your input. I guess I've been a little hesitant to sink $ into the unusual design of the QS series without hearing them. But if they really shine, I may get them. I would like to use them for music as well as for surround effects during movies though, hence my interest in using direct speakers back there.

Keep the M22s up front and use QS8s for side(actually slightly farther back)surrounds in a 5.1 setup. The dispersal pattern should be better overall for movies and ambience effects in music. If you're referring to separate surround music channels in SACD or DVD-A with specific instruments in those channels, a direct radiator would be a bit better for that use.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

Another vote for the QS8's. They're really great.

i have m22, vp150, QS8's and VTF2. Sounds fantastic. My TV is placed in a corner (yeah i know...) and the 2 QS8's are mounted in the opposite 2 corners. The back corner has an opening into the dining room. The QS8's are forgiving enough (w/ my MCACC on the 45TX too) that I don't have to worry that much about placement. Surround sounds is outstanding.
