Thanks John. Sounds like the woofers will take a bit more of the load in the new M22s.

Yeah I just bought/put through a purchase today for 4 x M22 in High Gloss Cherry (current promotion).
I thought I'd check out the SACD capabilities on the PS3.

Mojo,

No, nothing of the kind. Ian and I did some experiments with the M22 to make its midrange response slightly smoother--there is a slight glitch in the anechoic response--which necessitated changing the crossover components.

In our anechoic chamber, we have a switchable system that lets Ian substitute any combination of inductors, resistors and capacitors, then do a measurement curve, with immediate feedback on the changes in the frequency response.

But when I did the double-blind listening tests, the preference was still for the M22's "old" crossover design. So nothing changed. Nada.

Regards,

Alan

The cross-over switching system is a really great tool! When I first saw it, I thought "What a terrific idea".

OK, so I finally had a chance to swap my 'new' M22Tis into my garage system (Michaura M55s out Axiom M22s in).

So, beautiful flagship Kenwood amp(from the 1977), Ah! Njoe Tjoeb CDP (Siemens tube output section), and Kenwood KT8005 tuner (no subwoofer hooked up today) making frieds with the M22s.

Now, I had a pair of M22s some years ago (4? maybe 5?) and didn't like them. I always said, maybe there was something wrong with that pair. (Axiom did more than stand behind those speakers). Anyway, I listened to the M22s for about 15 minutes today ... not much of an audition ... but, I was gobsmacked. I love these speakers. I listened to a little 88.1, our local jazz FM station which broadcasts a very high quality signal from Long Beach. Loved what I heard! I listened to pieces from an 'audiophile' CD, some interesting new age stuff ... these speakers are absolutely wonderful. This weekend I hope to have a bit of time to listen to some Jobim and Getz (Verve), some Ed Gerhard slide acoustic guitar, bit of Rage Against the Machine ... and go back and forth between the M55s and M22s.

Anyway, I love the sound of these M22s. If only they weren't in egg shell white.

Must be thinking of another poster I have always liked my M22s, I did state in a post that my first choice would have been M80s if room space would have allowed for a tower speaker.
