Hi, I just bought a NAD T762 and am shopping for speakers. Having read great things about Axioms, I'm considering trying them out. Are there owners here who use Axioms with NAD, esp. the T762? So far I've heard Boston Acoustics, Def Tech, Vienna Acoustic, Paradigm and PSB. I'd go with the M22 or M3 for fronts, and either the VP50 or 100 for a center. Surrounds will be the QS4's, I may wait on a subwoofer. System use for music-movies will be roughly 60-40, favoring music. Musical tastes tend to be classic/hard rock or metal, pop/top 40 and contemporary jazz. Thanks!

I have a Nad T752 and m22's and Vp 100 centre and an EP125sub. It has been in use for 1 yr. and I couldn't be happier with the system

Hey floorman, out of curiosity, what made you choose the M22's as opposed to the M3's? My current living space is wonderful but too "small" for a 762. I chose it over the 752 because I expect to hold onto it for a while, and will eventually be moving to a larger place, condo or house, where the extra channel and power might come in handy. I had a single disc Pioneer CD player for 9 years and just retired a 7-year old Sony stereo receiver in favor of the 762, so I don't often get the "upgraditis" bug!

Based on price and size I may lean toward the M22's and retire those to a second-room set-up at a later date, if future space requires larger speakers. I thought I read that the M22's were perhaps better for music than the M3's; I prefer two channel music and may hold off on getting a sub for a while.

If you are holding off on a sub, I would suggest the M3 rather than M22. That is, if the M55s I have (thanks to kcarlile for spotting them on Audiogon) are anything like the M22. I must admit having the M3s for more than a year may cause bias, but there is less apparent bass from the M55, and a tonal difference in the relative amount of midrange. I want to get more time with a parametric EQ to see if I can make them sound more the same, just for fun. Take a look at the thread started by Slack on 8/21/03 called M22 vs M3 for some other input. (Sorry I don't know how to link a reference).

Snake, you just invested $1000-ish for an excellent receiver. Personally, I would invest significantly larger sum of money for the carefully chosen speakers, especially given that you plan to keep them for a long term. Speakers (and the room) will make a much more tangible difference in the overall sonic quality of your AV system than the rest in the chain. If it were me, I would maximally stretch the budget for the speakers and get the suite of, say, the M60/VP150/QS8 -- ~US$1600 (less if you can grab some of them from the Factory Outlet), which in my sense is still relatively "cheap" given the receiver. If you strongly prefer bookshelf fronts, then I would go with the M22s, but don't forget to budget for a pair of speaker stands.

I'll likely go with the bookshelves at this point; I can always bump them to a secondary system. The speaker suite you suggest would not make me popular with the neighbors at this point! Its bad enough I'm going to be underutilizing the power of the 762 for a while, but to add a sweet set-up like that and not be able to really push it....

As far as stands, I'm considering that option, or the option that I'm currently using, which is to put the speakers on top of the wall unit in the living room. This is probably not best as its significantly above my sitting position for movies. Although when I watch movies now in 2-channel, the sound is fairly immersive. My soon-to-be-replaced speakers are Bose 301's (flame-retardant jacket on!), and for anyone who's never seen them, they're built for horizontal placement. I'll try the bookshelves with and without stands to hear what works best.

Whichever option I choose for the bookshelves, I can place the center channel on a shelf that's a few inches above the TV.
