I have always considered FB a creepy stalking program. I have an account, but don't ever participate. It's just there for some of my distant family to reach out. I have this Social Dilemma marked to watch.

I was kind of overwhelmed by the options, but I ended up with Tutanota. Privacy and security seemed at the highest level. There's a free plan that I'm sure would have been enough for my uses, but I went with Premium just to support them.

Migration I'm doing manually. I've been slowly updating my email address with different online accounts as needed, and I'm choosing which newsletters I actually need to still be receiving as they come in. Unsubscribing from a lot. I don't have a ton of personal contacts, so I also transferred those manually.

Thanks, Charles.

Do you know if the storage limit is annual or perpetual?

How are you archiving important gmail that you want to keep?

The way I read the storage limit is that's the hard limit, so I'm guessing that's what you mean by perpetual? But I can't say for sure. One thing I wanted to focus on with the new email address is to keep it decluttered, so hopefully I never run into issues with that limit.

I haven't yet figured out archiving, though I know there's a Google download page for the various services you use. I'm going to try to figure that out as I get closer to what I consider a complete migration.

Yes, that's what I meant by perpetual. I do expect these limits to climb as the service takes off.

Lack of gmail import is a deal-killer for me. Others are complaining about it big time. Tutanota business will go through the roof once import from gmail and other clients is available. Then google will buy them and we'll be back to square one. frown

Why are folks migrating away from gmail? What did I miss? I’ve got A TON ( well my whole life really ) in Gmail. Should I be concerned about something?

If interested check out Hey email. The service comes from the company that built Basecamp and the Ruby on Rails web framework. David Heinemeier the guy who created it has a very opinionated approach and is reflected in the products his companies have developed. Worth checking out @ hey.com

Lack of privacy and pervasiveness.

Nowhere near as digitally secure as Tutanota. Some very cool features though.

Security perspective definitely, tutanota is in a different league!
