Hi all, I had to create a new profile because I forgot my username. Anyhow I just got a extra grand to spend on HT speakers. I have previously bought a pair of M3ti's and a VP100. I don't have any surrounds at moment. I sold the bose 201's I had. Now my game room size is 11'x 17'x 10'tall and my tv and speakers are on the 17' side wall.
I was thinking about getting the QS8's but I thought it might be too much for my current setup and room size and might need the QS4's instead. Then I was going to get a VTF-2 for the subwoofer or should I go smaller? I'm thinking the QS4's might match my M3ti's better than the QS8's. I was also thinking I could use the M3ti's as surrounds and upgrade my mains to towers like the M60ti but then my VP100 may not match up? Any suggestions on the best way to use this grand would be appreciated.
Here's my setup:
Sony XBR450 36"
Denon AVR-3803
Panasonic DVD-RP91
Plus from listening position(sofa against the wall) to front of TV is only 8' and I only have about 8' to separate the mains(hallway on left side). I can posts some pictures of the room if needed. Factory Outlet stuff doesn't bother me either. Thanks for any advise in advance!

Go for the QS8s. They're sonically and physically inobtrusive, so don't worry about overpowering the other speakers or the room decor. This will also give you one less thing to upgrade later on!

I'm with Rob. The QS8's are really rich, full speakers. They disperse so well that you will probably never need to upgrade the surrounds again. I'd get a VTF-2 (or STF-2 if you can wait) and the QS8's.

Yep...QS8's and the VTF-2 (or STF-2) from Hsu. You won't regret it.

Wow thanks for the fast responses guys. I'm going to get the QS8's. I have the boston cherry color for the main and center speakers but I think I'm goin to go black with the QS8's because when I upgrade again they will match my future mains.
Now I thought the VTF subwoofer was the best, but I can definitely wait for the STF version if it is going to be better. I thought they were basically the same subwoofer but the VTF had adjustable ports? If you guys are saying the STF is the best then I will wait for it. Thanks alot for you help!

The STF-2 will not be better than the VTF-2. It is supposed to sound exactly the same as the VTF-2, but it won't be as adjustable. It will just be cheaper.
VTF stands for Variable Tuning Frequency. That model of subwoofer allows you to plug (max extension mode) or unplug (max output mode) one of its two ports to customize it's output to your liking.
STF stands for Set Tuning Frequency and this series has only one port. That's really the only difference between the two.

For VFT owners, how ofter do you use that feature? All the time, not at all, whenever the mood strikes you?

Just want to point out that while other subs allow you to plug and unplug ports to tune the frequency, Hsu also has an EQ switch to optimize the electronics for how the ports are configured.

On my VTF-3, I played around with it at first, but now I leave it in maximum extension mode. It gets plenty loud in my room, so I do not need to use maximum output mode.

Now, how is the STF suppsoed to be configured? Extension or output?
I was going to order the VTF in a month of so(gotta get on the list for B-stock first). Just wondering if it would be better to go for the STF. I do not care about how load it is, just nice and clean.
