Well, it could still be that the board is controlling the backlight. You said it comes on briefly, right?

Yeah it comes on for a millisecond then goes blank. He has to order the part and said it will 10 days or so. No cost to us as we have the extended warranty . On thing that pissed me off was he put his metal clip board down on my turntable I not so politely told him to take it off.

That's really annoying. Sounds like you had the "extended wait" warranty. Did you pay the extended warranty to your local dealer? If it is local dealer, I would be mad that he is not keeping stock for the surcharge they make you pay.

At least this problem is not going to cost you any money. These technicians are not cheap. I would imagine the cost for the service call alone (just for the diagnosis) would be around $100, plus add on any parts (probably marked up) and labour.

At least this problem is not going to cost you any money. The "Primary" module is on us... Wait until the "Secondary" module fails...

The warranty is good until 3/10 so at least I'm good til then. After that it becomes target practice.

I had the board in my Panasonic RPTV go out too. Not under warranty, but I called and complained to Panasonic and they split the cost with me. It was a pleasant surprise. Cost me 200 instead of 4.

How did the technician diagnose the t.v? Did he hook up any diagnostic tools to the back of the t.v or did he just turn it on and say "blah blah you need the main module fixed"?

He came in turned the tv on and proceeded to tell me it need a main module. I really did expect some sort of diagnostic tool to be used. Believe me I wasn't very impressed with the clown.
