Would I need two of them to drive my M 80's? Yes. A single-channel or monoblock amp would only drive one channel...i.e., just the left speaker, or just the right speaker...

But not two per M80. Unless you want to go nuts and spend a whole lot of extra dough.

Obvious question, the Emotiva XPA-1 single channel monoblock amp 500 watts RMS x 1 into 8 ohms, 1,000 watts RMS x 1 into 4 ohms. Would I need two of them to drive my M 80's?

K, then you need one mono-block per speaker. Or, you could run a smaller set of speakers in parallel, with mono output.
