Hi Murph,

Thanks. The site was new to me as well. It's based in the U.K.

Now address the few minor criticisms and earn a 6/5.

Way to go, Axiom.

Ooooo! Luxury, they are.

I love that green colour. I still remember seeing both the green and the blue Audiobytes sitting on one of the production tables during my tour.

As I read that article it occurred to me that I listen to the Audiobytes more than any other system in my home. Either I'm spending too much time in front of my computer or its become more enjoyable since installing them last year. I agree with him that The EPZero is a must purchase if you are to get the best fidelity.

Recently, I had to do some re-cabling in my office (the one at home) and had to temporarily connect the Audiobytes to the output of my LittleDot Mk V headphone amp (in turn connected to the DACs of my receiver and of my SACD player). At first, I did not pay much attention to it, but then some highly dynamic contemporary music started and and I turned to the Audiobytes (and its neat amp) wide-eyed!

After that I tried a lot of stuff (stopping "temporarily" the re-cabling!), including SACDs and DVD-a and CDs. I was impressed anew. Accuracy was very good, but the dynamics was much better than ever. If it were not for the incovenience of having to control my soundsystem and having to manually operate the headphone amp (to switch between sources), this would definitely be my setup.

I suspect the gain at the entrance of the Audiobytes is not strong enough (it was probably meant to get amplified headphone output instead of line outs) or at least should have be user settable (1x, 2x, 4x). I measured the difference and it was 6db (calibrated 70db-70db peak for the beginning of Berlioz's "Marche au Supplice" on CD and then 95db-101db peaks during the first set of fortissimos).

If I change my pre-pro to one that has actual zone 2/zone 3 outputs (unlike the stupid Onkyos which can only do zones if the source is analogue!!!), I will definitely consider a second LittleDot Mk V to help the Audiobytes.

The bottom line is: they sure are impressive little beasts!
