I am building a dedidcated theater room. I am planning on sconce lights and want to place my QS8s about a foot below the sconce. I understand that you want the QS8 a couple feet below the ceiling, but would a sconce light one foot above be a problem?

I don't think it would cause any issues. There is a top woofer, but I don't think that would cause any problems with the light. Also, I don't think the light would cause any issues with speaker performance. Just don't run the speaker wiring parrallel to the electrical wiring.

Sot, the general suggestion is that the QSs should be maybe 2-4' above ear level. There should be at least 6" of room above the midwoofer on top for the sound to escape, so 1' below the sconce should work well.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

Hi Sotwell, one foot of space between the top of your Axiom QS8 surround speaker and the bottom of the sconce will be just fine. Good luck with your project !
