I've been needing a new HDMI switch for a couple of weeks now as the old one stopped working and is in too many pieces to get warranty work. (Stupid Cat!)

Some wireless HDMI devices (just saw one by a name I won't mention) have multiple HDMI ports and can also act like a switch. I have yet to see pricing but I was also scheming that it might be a cool way for me to get another audio zone in the house that doesn't have the analog only limitation many receivers have on their Zone 2s and 3s.

IIRC those wireless HDMI switches (Gefen maybe?) are very pricey and I don't think the range is enough to pass through walls to provide multizones. I though it was only to eliminate the cable from your AV rack to your monitor. Granted I could be way off.

A new product from "The M word" promises 30 to 50' and a one wall pass through (probably iffy depending a lot on construction). Even if this product worked as advertised, I'd be waiting for a competitor to release a similar product just out of principal.

They also claim to have an ethernet over home power grid solution but after reading the test results from measurements performed on other systems in this article, I'd be even more skeptical of it's claims.
Powerline Networking Nearly Fails Our Tests

I actually use the Netgear powerline adapters at home. One is on my router, one is on my Tivo in another room, and a 4 port is connected to my AV rack w/ PS3, Tivo, Wii (wired), and Slingbox.

I work in the 'business' so to speak, and I prefer to use wired over wireless. The powerline adapters can work well (I use the 85 Mbps version though I never tested actual rate) but the AC line noise can be a problem. On one side of the house I get inconsistent connections because of noise so I had to remove that one. Speed is usable though. In my AV rack, I can stream Netflix HD on my Series 3 Tivo w/ full bars. It helps that I upgraded to Comcast cable and get about 20 Mbps downstream.
