Half of communication is listening. You can't listen with your mouth.

your right, micah is right. I loved audio as a kid and to this day still do. i even went to a school for about 2-3 years called Trebas institute of the Recording Arts. I've played in a top 40's cover band in my teens and did events in my 20's and 30's with the band. worked in a recording studio (making no money i might add) in my 20's after Trebas. got married, had four kids and just when we were out of credit card debts, when't and spent 10,000 on speakers and amp(axiom)5000 on the LCD TV. 2000 on the reciever, 1500 on the TV stand (that now sells for 899 in this economy)and with that all said and done, asked my wife if i could trade in my ep600 for 2 new ep800s.(her reply of course was that i needed medical attention with regards to addictions.)

all this to say, thank god we have sound. Always strive for bigger and better sound.

And do you remember the first time you went over to someone's house who had a truely magnificent audio set up that blew you away and you thought to yourself, "my God, if I had something that sounded this great I would be the happiest man in the world"!!!

That was the start of the addiction. Just like the crackhead who felt so good the first time he smoked a rock and has been searching ever since to get back to the point that first high got him to, your first listen of a hi-fi audio system is your benchmark. It doesn't matter that what you have now is probably light years better than whatever it was that 1st got you hooked, in your mind nothing will ever be able to touch that hi-mark!

But what you never knew was the way that person felt about the system you fell in love with! You never knew how much more he wanted to do, or how much better he thought it could sound once he did this or that to it.

You figured he must be the most satisfied person ever to own hi-fi audio equipment. But truth be told, he was just like you and I are with our own HT systems. The same goes for those who come over to sample our set-ups. They have no clue how much we dream about doing to our rigs to tweak them out. They probably figure we are in total audio bliss with such an awesome arrangement. Like there's no way we could ever want for anything.

But they have no clue how much dreaming we still do!

I'm like this with everything I do, whenever I start a new hobby I just jump into it full bore. I've always been this way and it takes a lot of will power to not go crazy with spending.

I think most of us just have an idea in our heads when we start out, and nothing short of that will satisfy the idea.

You are wrong Micah. I can stop anytime I want. It take a strong person to control his or her desires. Got to go now and check out the EP600. Oops did I write that, I mean I got to go for supper.
