The anchors come in both plastic and metal varieties. The plastic anchors are more than enough, but if you want overkill, the metal ones will do the job, too.

If someone needed to, they could mount a "plaque" on the wall first to either catch a stud or add more screw support, then mount the T-bracket over that. I was able to catch a wall stud with each surround but considered the plaque idea as a back up plan. I'm sure if you use most of the holes in the T-bracket you're OK. Some guys just can't get wood though.

I thought Adrian had been around long enough to know that I mounted QS8s to these also... not just "rears":

I am all about overkill when it comes to building things, so I put the 2 x 4's behind the wall because the walls were open. Same thing in the ceiling for the projector, although all it technically needs is a floor joist to hold it.
Another problem is the wires, which I ran under the horizontal 2 x 4's between the studs. No way I can get those any higher without cutting a 6" hole in both walls which I would obviously prefer not to do.
Hindsight is always 20/20 I suppose.

Drywall anchors in a 10' sheet will hold from 48 - 96lbs depending on the size of the anchor. On an 8' sheet its 38 - 73 lbs. The QS8s re 13.5 lbs each so you are well within tolerances... now if you want to overbuild it and mount them to studs, I totally get that too! snazzed
