No, I never did figure out which size was actually "best". I am assuming that if you use a fork/spade connector, that just one side of the connector goes through the hole in the binding post. Someone did respond that they were using a 3/8" size, so I imagine either size should fit.
Still using bare wire for now.

If you use spades, you don't use the hole in the middle of the binding post. The spade stradles the post itself and then you tighten it down on top.
If your QS8's are wall mounted, using anything other than bare wire is going to be difficult. There's not much room back there for a connector.
