well.. since it's a LUST list.. my "out of reach Lust list" would be:
Krell Evolution 707 pre processor Krell Evolution One mono block (as many as I have speakers) 4 X Krell Master Reference Subs (each sub is 2X15" powered by 2600W Krell amp) Acoustic Zen Maestro speakers Acoustic Zen Cables
That should take care of the " sound " part of things..Not sure about the "video" part yet.. Either way, none of this gear is in reach ..my previous post is what I'm aiming for.. this is just a "dream" list
Cheers

That is one bizarre result right there. I wouldn't expect that from just about any salesman. I can't imagine why he would say you would need a 1kW amp for the M80s. I mean, sure, why not, but NEED? Well, to be fair the guy never said that I NEEDED 1000 watt mono's in order to make my M80's work. It was more like a personal recommendation. His amps weren't 4 ohm stable, so he had nothing to sell me. But he said if I wanted to make absolutely sure that I never ran into clipping at high level listening, then he suggested I go with something pushing close to 1000 watts into 4 ohms. An 'insurance policy' amp of sorts. He really did seem to be fairly knowledgable and enthusiastic about properly allowing for headroom. And he used the word 'control' quite a bit... "An amp that runs out of available dynamic headroom looses control of the audio signal", or something along those lines. I dunno, I guess the fact that he wasn't trying to sell me any of his products seemed to give him more credibility. But maybe he was just a quack?

From personal experience, my Denon (less powerful than yours) is 4 ohm stable in three channels, in addition to being 6 ohm stable in the other 4 channels. Something isn't right.

my cousin powers his M80s with an Onkyo TX807 wich pushes 130W per channel.. Sounds very, very good, even at high levels and I should know because we play our instruments (Bass and Drums) along with the stereo.. so it has to be LOUD for us to hear the music over the instrument amps..I have a 200W Traynor Tube Head with a cabinet that has 1 X 15" + 2 X 10" + tweeter. Trust me, my bass amp can play considerably louder than the stereo..but we don't over do it otherwise we can't hear the song..typicaly we run the Onkyo at around -4db when we jam and my bass amp volume is at about 3(out of 10)
At normal to higher than normal volume levels for music listening, that 130W is plenty .. I don't hear or feel that he's missing dynamic headroom.

I might get a vp-180, don't know yet... Right now I'm thinking i will wait until i can use my vp-150 as a trade in.
I think my next major purchase for HT oriented items for me will be..
1 pair of Wilson Sasha's 1 Wilson watch center channel
Depending, i might get another amp so I can bridge the 2 channel amps so each sasha will have it's own amp.
