Hi, I am a newbie here and was wondering if brand compatabilty made a differece. I have a hk receiver. Would it matter if you used a marantz or denon dvd/cd. Player? also, do certain companys "match" better? thanks

Krazy,
other than the occasional compatibility with remotes from the same companies, there is no reason to buy all one brand. A lot of people do because, just like anything in life, they have good luck with one brand and stick with it. There is good reason to mix and match companies though because different companies have different strengths and weaknesses.

K, except for an obvious problem such as not being able to connect two components(e.g. a player with an optical output, but a receiver without an optical input), there's no compatibility or matching considerations necessary. All good components work well with all other good components.
