Practical or not, here's an idea I was kicking around in my head:
Axiom speakers are known for their accuracy. Many other speakers aren't, but sometimes such a deviation from accurate sounds good.
Many of us have undoubtedly seen new guitar amps that claim to reproduce to sound of various vintage, classic guitar amps. A matter of adding the right distortion and EQing.
Why not create a system wherein Axiom speakers and a solid state amp (both rather neutral, the SS even more so) could reproduce the sound of various quality speakers?
It'd take a huge amount of testing of both speakers, and probably an EQ with more bands than anyone has ever seen (perhaps), and one could only go from a more-capable speaker to a less-capable one (few tower-to-bookshelf mappings, and some mappings would be volume-limited) but oh, it'd be great to have many speakers' sounds at my fingertips. Even Bose cubes, if only to hear for myself what they sound like.
10 years ago this would be pie-in-the-sky, but I don't think it would be now. Thoughts?
