One of my friends had two cats fighting behind his reel-to-reel tape deck, which was mounted on a shelf about 5 feet off the ground. Tape deck, meet floor. Floor, meet tape deck. After he cooled off a bit, he grabbed the offending cats and walked about a 1/4 mile into the town's general store, kicked the door open, and yelled "who wants a cat ??". Fortunately the town cat lady was in getting groceries (and presumably cat food) so there was a happy ending and the cats did not end up as something like sweet & sour chicken balls. Sorry to hear about the damage to your speakers. The subwoofer should fix up fairly easily though; the M80 will be tougher to get perfect but I doubt anyone looks at the sides anyways (or more people would realize how freakin' big M80s really are). Might be worth checking with Axiom to see if you can get a piece of vinyl to cover the ding in the side of the M80 after filling it. You could cut a piece from the back and nobody would ever know but doing it would hurt too much. I'm thinking plastic wood plus a bit of vinyl cut off someone else's Axioms when they're not looking

I say you take some dog clippers and give the cat a matching ding. Then threaten to complete the job if he tips over the 80's again. Just sayin'

It's funny, I was just thinking the exact same thing. Patch the damage on each speaker with a little bit of cat fur "pour encourager les autres".

i think it should be "pour décourager les autres", so they will not be inclined to do it again...
right?

Strictly speaking, yes. IIRC the original use of the phrase was to "encourage other admirals to try harder" but over time the usage seems to have been broadened to a more general "as a warning to others". Opinion seems to be divided as to which interpretation is correct, but I agree that your interpretation seems right. The thread was already heading towards "little cat heads on little cat pikes" and I didn't want to "encourager" that line of thinking too much

i understand your point of view.
then you could also have written: pour encourager les autres à ne pas faire de même.

For the future, spray, or rub, something that the cat doesn't like the smell of.... For me, that would probably be deoderant. You ought to see her run when I put that on. (It's not the spray type either.) Vinegar might work. Anything the cat can't stand the smell of.
I don't know how to keep cat from jumping on top of them though. There might be "something" I haven't thought of that would sit on top of them that would't vibrate off easily. I have a big rubber rat that makes shreiking noises when you squeeze it. Cat can't stand it. Might work for me.

We had a cat once in the early 80s, it sprayed on my sub (M&K) once. It went flying out the car window near an old farm house that had a chit load of them. No worries cat lovers, I slowed down LOL.
I'm sure the farmers in your area are greatful for all those cats and dogs folks keep tossing out... If you don't want a pet, find a home for it or have it put down. The truth is; I took it to my Grandmothers farm. I truly wouldn't be so cruel as to really toss it out a moving car. Nice comment Bob.
