In the future I will be installing a 7.1 system and need to place the 2 rear QS8's on the ceiling behind the listening position. I really want to mount them flat against the ceiling instead of hanging them with the metal arm bracket(s). I have 9' ceilings and will be sitting on a couch in the listing position.

Is it okay if I mount the QS8's this way as opposed to hanging them?

In case you're wondering, there is no rear wall in the room as it goes into another room (just a knee wall).

Thanks!

Ed V.

If I were you, I'd consider swapping the QS8s for M2tis. The diffuse nature of the QS8s, coupled with their very high placement, might not give you the best results. (A lot of us believe that direct radiators are better for rears in a 7.1 system.)

That being said, you don't really have any placement options, so what you're planning is probably fine.
