but there are no "right" people to axe in this situation.
Opinions:
How much happier will I be if I trade in/up my M-60's (in veneer, ya cheap bastards!) for M-100's? I'd still be shellin' out $1.7k, plus another $690 to match my current finish, but these would be my "end of the line" speakers, as I am almost as old now as Brian.
I actually got a no-fuss green light from my better half, with, "It's your decision. I know how much pleasure you derive from them." And that's while, as I write, the new 200+' of gutter$ are being in$talled around all house.
So, it's still a bit tight to do, but now would be the time based on a 75% credit for my 60's.
All responses will be valued, even the a-hole ones. Oh, right, I'M not responding myself, so that shouldn't be a problem here, eh?
Always call the place you live a house. When you're old, everyone else will call it a home.

I would say, just go for it. They can't make you any sadder.

I'd say go for it!
But just get cheap vinyl. I don't mean the nice-looking vinyl that's used for Axiom's standard finish, I mean have them go out to Queen Tire or whatever that cheep Canadian place is and get some real bargain stuff.
Then close your eyes whenever you listen to them.

"Queen Tire", ha, ha, ha. (Bob will like that one!) It's Canadian Tire, or, as many of us Canadians refer to it, Crappy Tire.

I think I was doing a custom mix of Canadian Tire and Princess Auto.

Bob,
All kidding aside, if you "axe" me, if things are a bit tight with the 200 feet of new gutters, you'd find a significant upgrade in sound quality by going to the M80 v3s from your M60s. In the double-blind tests I've done between those two loudspeakers, I consistently rank the M80 a full point above the very good M60s -- if the M60 gets an 8 out of 10 on my score sheet (10 being the theoretical perfect loudspeaker), the M80v3 gets a 9 from me. According to my ultra-critical speaker rating criteria, that degree of improvement is a lot.
Cheers, Alan

(But to be fair, Tom likes spending other people's money even more than the rest of us!)
