The M100's are REALLY good. It will be fun to get the switcher her so we can do instant A/B switching, blind, level matched listening tests. smile

The replacement for the Paradigm Studio 100 series is the Prestige 85F ... Dual 6.5 inch drivers ... 41 inch tall, 57 pound cabinet ... etc ...

Craigsub,

That is an unfair assessment in my opinion. To use a "A" Stock real wood finish product price against a "B" Stock veneer.

Yes, even if the Prestige 85 is comparable to the M80 it is probably more comparable to the M80HP. I don't think in my opinion that the M80 is equal to the Studio 100. Maybe the M80HP are closer, I do not know I have not heard the M80v4HP. I however, have the M80v3 and I am sorry they are not superior. They are however, a better deal as the Studio 100's are not a $2000 better sounding speaker.

If you are going to be fair then be fair. Use the M80v4HP in real wood finish which is the most comparable and that is a $3214 speaker against a $3950 speaker. or even at that if quality is not your thing then atleast compare a Outlet M80v4 $2485.

This competes directly with the M80's ... The Paradigms are $3998 per pair vs. $1620 per pair for the M80's from the outlet.

Troy - The outlet speakers are not "B" stock. They are built to order "A" stock speakers. Yes, the $1620 is for the standard vinyl wrap, and this has been the "trade off" with Axiom vs. Paradigm/PSB speakers for over a decade.

As for the relative sound qualities between the M80's and the Paradigm 85F's ... only a blind, level matched comparison will tell whether they are comparable.

I was merely using the known specs on each product, along with the anechoic measurements of the Prestige 95F (the big brother to the 85F) vs. the M80's response.

One can find the 95F response curve here:

Paradigm Prestige 95F

The most recent M80 measurement can be found here:

M80 measurement

The M80, in USD, is $2870 for the HP version with real wood finish and $2380 in standard finish.

Troy. you are working in CAD, where Craig is in USD.

If you look up the Paradigm in CAD then you will be paying closer to $4300. I don't know if the Paradigm are actually real wood. I would hope so, but in looking at a pair of Studio100's, I had my wonders.

But you are correct in the cost would be more in you'd also should add in the Outriggers +120. and the real wood +245.

edit:

but it you look at the specs, Paradigm claims +/-2db from 40hz-20khz. Take a look at the graph that Craig linked.. it is nowhere near that.

Maybe I'm missing something with the anger at Axioms' pricing.... but isn't the problem the current exchange rate with Canadian currency and not with Axiom?

The Factory Outlet is now the same product as the regular products except with a wait time, a five year warranty (instead of 10), and no option to Customize Yours. There are no longer any B-stock products in the Factory Outlet.

The B-stock store is now where the B-stock products are sold. They are put in the B-stock store on an as it happens basis and are graded depending on the severity and/or quantity of the scratch or dent. The warranty for B-stock is five years.

Troy - I don't know when the change was made, but there is a specific "B" stock store. On the main page, there is a link to "save 5% every day" which takes one to the Outlet page.

The basics are this - using the Outlet page gets a savings over the standard pricing. The downside is you are buying something before it's made, which is why the lead time is given.

One of the things I try to do in the review process is find "deals" for purchasing stuff, regardless the company.

Wait, I thought a steady inflation rate was a good thing.
