Hi: I'm planning to upgrade my rear channel speakers which are mounted on my rear wall right above(2ft above) my couch(no other way to set it up! ....so given my limited options would a QS4/8 still work as they are designed to?? Or would I be better off with the on wall options??Thanks!!!

I can't see why they wouldn't work just fine.

The included on-wall powered mounts make installing quite easy...

Axiom's QS speakers are very forgiving in their placement. I mean, there are some limits of course, but even being remotely close works well with them for a traditional 5.1 or 7.1 setup.

Well, I traded in my QS8 side and rear surrounds for monopole M3 speakers for Atmos. The other problem that you could be facing is that if you went with Atmos, you want the surround speakers closer to ear level (a little higher), so there will be compromises either way.

Bumping a thread from the summer as I'm looking at also adding rear speakers to make a 9.2 setup (and the foundation for an eventual Atmos system).

I keep looking at the M-3 on walls as I like the flat profile. Wondering if M-22s would be even better or just too much for surround duty?

(Note: my other speakers are not Axiom and my current side surrounds are bipoles)

Either would work. Keep in mind the M3's have a bump in freq at 100hz where the M22's are flatter if that's important to you. Obviously the M22's are a few inches taller than the M3's as well. Have you considered the M2's as another possibility?

I have an M@ for a rear on a 6.1 system in a very large greatroom. When there is content in the rear channel, the M2 does a fine job producing the sound.

I have a set of M2's and they have been used as front wide as well as in a 7.1 as rear surrounds hung from the ceiling and they worked fantastic. I have moved to a new house and no longer have a place to hang them up behind me but if I could I would. They are a great little speaker imho.

I want to add some speakers to the rear for a 9.2. I'm interested in using Axiom on-walls (M2, M3 or M22) because they are nice and slim.

My only concern/question is about the fact that they would be flat against the wall - shouldn't rears be toed-in towards MLP, or am I crazy?

Yes, they should be in theory. All channels.

I run rear channels aimed forwards. We are least sensitive to direction with sounds behind us. The further behind the less definitite direction becomes, to a point. So long as aiming straight ahead does not hot spot a single seat you will be fine. Just space them with this in mind.
