Can get a deal with both.
Though the Marantz is the 7011 at 1300 off {sale price}.
Due to the 7012 release.

Anthem retailer closer with a coupon for free wifi speakers.
Which is better? or would you chose?

Which anthem are you loooking at. I would get the Anthem strictly for their room correction software. I am sure Nick will be by to give his 2 bits wink

I just gave them a quick look but from what i see they are very much the same just the 1120 has more channels so if 7 is enough for you then i say that i would pine for the 1120. You could add more ammp channels later on .

Ha missed the sale on the older Marantz.

Though as they say curiosity killed the cat. Was in contact with one of my local Anthem retailers and got the ball rolling on the 720 now up to a week of agony to find out what all this fuss of ARC is about.

already have some external power so extra channels {atmos} should be easy.

Congrats on the purchase. The waiting is the hardest part. I should write a song about that . I have Dirac and i can tell you that what it does for my already fantastic sounding system is nothing short of amazing. Its like it fills in the blanks and makes everything seem seamless, really hard to describe. ARC and Dirac are the top notch room correction systems that are available.I only use it for HT and some purists dont like RC for 2 channel music. I have a seperate system for 2 channel anyway. I would suggest you run your system without using ARC until you have it set up the best you can possibly get it and then watch a few movies. After that run ARC and prpare to be be amazed. When i moved into my new house and set everything up i went a year without running Dirac because it sounded great and i just kept putting it off. Well long story short i wish had rerun dirac in the new room sooner, lesson learned.

Well, here I am to give my 2 cents, but it isn't needed as it would seem. LOL

I have great respect for Marantz, so not slamming them or their product lines, but you will love the Anthem.

ARC is great, and the software is super helpful even in just tweaking speaker placement. You can run a "quick measure" where you select one speaker, and it just keeps doing the audio "pings" and showing you real-time measurements. If you have the mic at your primary seat, for example, you can adjust and tweak that particular speaker's location to get the best response as possible, then move on to the next speaker and do the same. This allows you to get the absolute best speaker placement from a room response perspective before running any correction. Pretty cool by itself before correcting anything.

Heck, before running ARC I was blown away by the sound that came out of the MRX 1120. Like you said, the 1120 is pretty much the 720 with more amplified channels, but the 1120 has a better Toroidal power supply. How much better? Don't know. That is probably debatable. Anthem claims that the sound is "cleaner," but unless doing a side by side comparison, I doubt that anyone would ever know. Even WITH a side by side comparison, it would probably be tough as the 720 is reported as sounding really great too.

You are going to love it.

What Nick sad. ARC is an external tool. What Marantz uses seemed to be little more than a built in multi channel graphic equalizer from my experience. I have used both. You can't compare the two.

As you need a windows laptop to plug in your USB mike. This is a real calibrated mike, not some $3 micro gadget you can get off ebay shipped from china. As Nick suggested, you can use the ARC as a tool to locate your speakers and get the best possible sound out of them before applying the magic from ARC. As you can see the realtime data in a graph on your screen, as you do each calibration run, you can see where you are getting a frequency drop or spike, then move the speaker, furnature etc and re-run with an overlay to see if it got better or worse than what you had prior.

You can have 4 speaker profiles where you turn on and off speakers, ARC configuration settings etc.

I have a profile setup for HT and TV. A different one for my media centre where I just have the 2 channel mains on with no correction at all. I also made a profile for doing music 5.1 where I tweaked the sound for more of a concert hall feeling.

But I will say from my experience I could not make the Marantz I had sound even 1/2 as good with all the correction and everything set as the Anthem sounded out the box with no correction at all. Your going to love the unit.

Awesome thanks guys.
Went in today and placed my order should make it here to the West coast by Friday. Yay

They only had the 1120 and a 520 in shop. Anticipation of an all Canadian system pretty cool. Yay team Canada.

Cheers

No the distributor I went to went in back and ordered me one on the spot. Anthem direct I think. They'll bring it to store for me to pick up. Supplies Cambridge, Marantz\ Denon, Audio labs and Anthem.

Shops located about 3 blocks from our coliseums, stadiums here in Vancouver. GM and B.C. places.

Argh. still stuck in shipping. Went in and ordered 12 days already. Darned anticipation they said that Friday which was last Friday. Although with the promo I got in on there's probably more demand. Even called on Friday they said not in yet but had shipping confirmation.
Hoping on tomorrow now.

Tracking numbers add so much comfort.

Yay it finally came got it 2 days now.
Thank gosh I finally ditched my Oynkers, didn't realize what I've been missing. Did a rough ARC just to get it sounding nice Wow!!!
With my ADA1250 pushing the fronts and center seems more detailed then my older Oynks with the 1250.
Came with a free PW600 speaker things darn cool hits quite low{bass} 400 watts of wireless power. So far quite satisfied
Now we need someone to compare wireless series speakers.

Darn the PW series isn't true wireless still needs A\C outlet.
Though it seems quite good not really portable, more of an extra Playfi port for another room. {No battery}

Though on a plus note Got a 3 month trial of Tidal "They say the highest resolution music server"
Having just joined Spotify guess will be testing both or switching for selection of songs.

Sweet, congrats man, it is so exciting to get a new toy. I went from a Sony HTIB, to a Sony receiver to a Denon Receiver and then separates and nothing was more rewarding than getting my XMC-1 though each step was a noticeable upgrade. The best part is you will never find yourself wanting for a pre/pro or receiver ever again.

I've gone from very similar,
Sony HTIB to Onkyo HTIB then to Onkyo with Klipsch 20s didn't like the treble on the Klipsch after very short time then found Axiom.
And haven't looked back since for speakers.

I had the same experience with the AVM60 with my ADA1000. that was coming from a Pioneer, Marantz, Yamaha... i tried too many and just couldn't get a wow sound like i knew the speakers could make.

I can't believe the detail,
All my selections more horns, pianos etc. Like the older processors weren't fully decoding details. Even my Integra with full upscale Qdeo Burrbrown etc.

Even guests noticed more details before showed them the unit.

Still haven't learned settings yet, only quick ARC run through without even adjusting subs.

What happened to the days when I could go to Krazy Kiley's in Saskatoon or Advance in Winnipeg and buy a Kenwood for $100 and be elated? Now I have $10K of gear and I'm always wondering what I'm missing.

Woah Gibbys is expensive if you look around could save a ton. Especially with all the sales starting A.S.A.P.
Attempted adding atmos channels via a older A\B amp. darn thing gave me feedback {won't play nice without isolators}. Though I think my ADA1250 is overkill for height, and it's 3 channel that works so well with my M80s/VP160 guess I'll have to test it out.

Honestly i wouldnt use a receiver for its amplifiers just a bunch more circuitry to mess up the sound. Why spend that kind of money on a highend component then put it through something that will ruin its design. Brendo ,what shop did you get your Anthem from.

3299. at the Sound room in BC

I went to a place called WestCoast A.V. Gallery east of Soundroom.
Main street Chinatown neighbourhood. Almost across from the Greyhound/Train via rail stations.
Nice little place quiet more of a designer setup integration place.

I wasn't trying to add receiver it's a crest audio VS900 450x2 WPC power amp. It doesn't want to play nice much ground hiss.
My ADA plays well on its own. Have it running my main 3.
Haven't used the Crest since got my ADA.

The Anthem I have is 7.1 with 11.2 pre outs so for atmos 5.4 or 7.4 need a power amp. for heights. Now I'm content with 5.2.2.
may try again with ADA instead of just trying to add my old equipment to mix.

Sorry, i thought someone had suggested using your previous receiver to use for power, i read too many threads. Funny the crest doesnt play nice, is it a pro amp? Are the amps in the anthem assignable I would use the crest to power some MBM's

The crest is a pro amp. though circa1997. U.S. made tank.

Haven't found any option for assigning amps to other channels in AVR think its only add external for height front and back.

I believe i read that some higher end denons allow the amps to be assigned though to what degree i have no idea. You could add a bassx amp from Emotiva since atmos doesnt require huge amounts of power.

I am getting sick of waiting for Emotiva to upgrade my processor and Big Dan said if you can"t wait go somewhere else which is pretty shitty attitude. It was due out first quarter of 2017 and really that was 2yrs too late already. I will compare notes with you once they get back to me.

That sucks I thought Emotiva had the upgrade available already.
Their site has been promoting it for a while looks like a chip module very similar to the units NAD has.

Hope they can help.

When I was last their was scoping the new Cambridge CX200 it's only 7.1 but big beautiful 41 Lbs. of English power.
Dangerous neighbourhood within about a mile any direction you can find about 6 audiophile shops. {To much to see}
Get stuck browsing for days

I talked to a guy on chat on their web page and asked for a quote and gave my email. they emailed me and explained i needed a bunch of amps etc but didnt give me a price. I have emailed them back hopefully they can get back to me. As for Emotiva they are just so small of a company and their main revenue is amplifiers so they seem to focus on them for the most part. It took them for ever to get the XMC-1 to market but i waited becasue of the promise of the ability to upgrade it. I will be in an old folks home before i get to experience ATMOS at the rate they move. They just keep bumping the date forward, and even when it comes out i live so far away that it will be some time before i can even partake. Its sad really but the Anthem is a nice unit and canadian made so win win. Just tired of the excuses, time to move on.

There's a shop in Smithers that carries Paradigm\Anthem.
Has been there forever might be easier to get compared to a trip all the way here again.

With your set up they should know you only need a four channel for the atmos. channels? Surprising the guy knew of AXIOM so I would think they know the XMC-1 is a pre\pro.? If that 4 channel plays nice is a whole other ball game though.

My parents still live in the valley ,they could pick it up or my bro inlaw so no issue there. Im from that neck of the woods, just too many people for my liking.. I found another XPA 3 gen 1 for 650 shipped so that would go good with my XPA 5 and XPA 3. Going to give emo a bit more time but we will see. The XMC sounds so damn good i really hate to bail on it.
