When I first got my Axiom speakers I was blown away by how they sounded. I found this website to be insightful and as the posters changed, I still found it fun to read.

I learned quite a bit and thank Serenity and Craigsub for that. I got lots of help from others like bridgman and socketman. Thanks for it all

But the level and direction of conversation has sadly dropped below the level to keep me here, so I must sadly say adieu.

I agree it has changed recently, but as the longest regular on this board it always seems to go through phases. I have found that the conversation changes, and the people along with it.

Sorry to see you go, and I have also dropped from site for long periods of time.

My current issue is that nobody at Axiom is returning my emails...which I find a total lack of professionalism, particularly when I get one from them, and then they disappear!

This place is kinda like a marriage ,we have just run out of shit to talk about. We have all evolved together over the years and learned and grown and we just dont need the help we once needed. We dont get much fresh meat in here anymore, our newbies have grown up.I have really lost my zest for making any improvements or upgrades, and dont really have the extra cash i had before i bought my house . I am more than happy with what i have though one day Emotiva will have the Atmos ready and i will probably upgrade over a long period of time to soften the blow. I notice things are not what they used to be at the Emotiva forum either, more idle chit chat than any realy questions or concerns and even AVS is on the slow side from what i have seen in the past couple of years. There just doesnt seem to be any wow products ,like its all been done. Sorry to see ya go matt ,maybe we will see you back one day.

Yeah, I come here every day (sometimes multiple times a day), but rarely post anymore. I was never one of the "BS-ers" (which I mean in the most positive way) like many of the "Top Posters" and so my post count will never reach that high.

For me, I've been "settled" with my Axiom setup for a while now. My theater room hasn't changed in over a year as well (Had to check my theater build thread, and my last post was in June 2016)...

I've also been super busy doing graphics/photo work for people on AVS that want custom printed acoustical panels for their rooms. I do a lot of them for free in hopes that it draws enough work that people that want to pay for my work see me as the "best" option. Unfortunately, the amount of paying people is pretty small. One busy week that I had, I was working for about $1/hour and spent a huge amount of time on things.

Throw into the mix that I have other projects that I am trying to get done around the house, and that my boss was so kind as to give me a whole additional IT support client/contract to manage (without any additional pay, and with me traveling twice a month just for that client on top of my existing travels), and I am just feeling worn out by the time it comes to posting online.

Ditto here. I'm pretty well settled here & am not going with Atmos as there would be too much surgery required to my house.

The crew is applying the final coat on my HG Rosewood VP160 & it will ship next week.

It will be a V4 vs my present vinyl V3 but I did it only for aesthetic reasons.

BTW - Axiom is now using Canada Post for shipping (at least domestically)...

That's what they sent me as shipping labels. The VP160 weighs the most but doesn't break the 66 lb limit I guess. It is about 45 lbs without the box...

What I'm seeing is that as third-party shipping SW gets better vendors are able to use multiple shippers to optimize for each shipment.

AFAIK it used to be that the main source of shipping SW was the courier companies themselves, which pretty much guaranteed lock-in.

They're 260 lbs. The number appears random to you because you don't know the underlying probability distribution.

That's too bad. I enjoyed your posts, Mr. Mojo.

I don't know that the level of discourse has fallen, certainly the volume of posts has dwindled substantially. Your posts certainly livened the place.

Yeah Phil, I enjoy your posts too about your silly tube amps, Emerald Physics "speakers", and Khartago amps with 120mF capacitance; and you know I am envious of all those toys. smile

And even though Richard ribs me, I know he secretly loves the 'nad-mass I'm gonna have on Monday with my "Customized by Ian" EP800v4NME which TAM desperately wants to upgrade to along with M5HPs and Craig is dreaming of not only because of the Gut Punch mode but also the continuously variable phase knob which would bring him a lot of twiddling joy as he consumes the Penthouse Forum letters in front of the Netflix fireplace on his new TV and listens to them crackle on his M100s which replaced his $10K Legacy Audio speakers.

Ahahahahaha...I love these boards. They are so non-linear!

Just finished watching the three Ironman Blu Rays again. Lots of tickling but thankfully no slamming.

My M22s are heading back next week to Axiom for some TLC. M5s will not be in the mix...

The HG finish has crazed or whatever. They've never seen this before.

Suspect that it was the brutal cold weather a couple of winters ago that was adversely affecting the paint booth at that time.

Anyway, they are going to fix them one way or another...

How is that (an App) supposed to work?

As a general rule, I'm very shy about screwing around with software upgrades when the device works just fine now...

Ian will send you a new amp. The amp will have Axiom Air in it. Using your smart phone or a web browser, you will be able to control the gain and various other parameters of each sub. For example, there will be 'nad tickling, gut punching, chest thumping and rib cracking modes.

Oh, Mr. Mojo, that was truly excellent!

Yes, failures, I've had a few. The Khartagos, well,I have T Amps I like better. (Obviously that silly solid state amp suffered from too many "mili fahradts") Khartago gone now.

Emerald Physics EP 2.8s? the pair I auditioned was spectacular. The pair I bought, well, I like my M22Tis better. EPs gone now.

But, my tube amps are winners! 😎

When did "we" do that? Is that why Sonicfox is no longer around? Or maybe she finally bought a soundbar and after hearing it, decided life without "real" speakers is not worth living.

Ten to Fifteen years ago, every forum was jumping with traffic. There were "hot chick" threads, adult beverage threads, GTG's ... it was a lot of fun. No one took the hot chick threads seriously.

In today's Politically correct world, fun is forbidden, and far too many people are looking for reasons to be offended.

I am not sure that is what has driven Matt away. I suspect it is the way threads tend to spiral away from the topic.

I do know that in my case when I see a thread become less interesting, I simply stop reading. I post very infrequently - as you can see from me registering in 2002 and the low numbers of posts I make!

Perhaps some people are less tolerant.

I take full responsibility for bobblehead leaving. I littered these boards with all kinds of immature comments and very little audio talk. I brought out the worst in some people. It won't happen again. Back to the serious Mojo some of you knew a decade ago.

It can't be a cold and univiting forum either.
The more the merrier so long as its legit and we all share a similar passion.
I'm not for haters or whiners nor forum nudity etc. Fun. Music. The odd poke at another member, you know, the good stuff.

FWIW being funny and being antagonistic are not the same thing. I tend to be easily bruised and a total asshole all at the same time, i am very passionate smile People have given 2x6speeds a hard ride at times about his tube amps etc where as i think all forms of audio are relevant, whatever makes you happy not how you get there. We have gone through ups and downs around here ,such is the human condition.

People don't know you're kidding if they cant see your face. smile Text has a way of being cruel without that intention.

I would love to read about people's setups, trials and aha moments. It's kind of selfish, but the only reason I am still here is the occasional anecdote where someone's experience links to something science related in a very tangential way. Sometimes they don't really realize they have shared some pretty valuable experience that is helping affirm or deny my own knowledge. In my opinion it's what a hobbyist audio forum should be. Sharing, building, bettering.

Richard, a complete stranger except for our relation on the forum, sent me personal property to test, relate and share with everyone. This was a great experience, and not possible without the forum. smile There is almost no point in being here if learning from one another becomes scarce.

Here is one for ya trevor. And for whats it worth i dont believe in magic wire lifters or fancy interconnects just so you know where my head is at.

For a while now i have felt that my right speaker was louder than my left speaker. I tried all the usual stuff, moved the speakers, switched channels on amp etc and i wrote it off to being more deaf in the left ear than the right. I have 2 amps, XPA 3 and XPA 5 and they are side by side on a entertainment unit. One day i decided to put my front L +R onto the XPA 3 , after that i realized that the left channel now seemed to stand out more im like wtf. So time went by and i have sold my XPA 3 so i had to move the L+R back the the XPA 5 yesterday. Well as im reconnecting things it occurs to me that one speaker wire is longer than the other and i had swapped them since the XPA 3 is closer to one speaker than the other and the speaker wires did not reach. The speaker wire was only 18g so i went to my cable closet and got out my 14g speaker wire and cut 2 equal length ,tinned the wires and put on my banana plugs and hooked everything up to the XPA 5, and now everything seems perfectly balanced. Have i just been schooled after 30 plus years of audio. This was never a problem in my previous home and only started in this house which is where i installed the 18 gauge wire ,whereas the old house i had 14g. Never to old to learn i guess.

When did "we" do that?

Mojo, buddy, you can't tell me you forget Teri's thread that I started! Speaking of my beloved bestie Teri, she's living a spoiled life of worldwide travel through her successful travel agency business. Here's one example of her exclusive trips available (warning - she may be in a bikini at some point in the video).

Cam! You're back! Is Teri the one who was a fixture on your avatar in days gone by?

So i sat in my favorite chair and i interrogated the offending piece of wire and i couldnt see anything that raised concern. So while i was staring at the ends where i soldered i realized something. I use Nakamichi banana plugs and it has 2 set screws. When i made these wires up i only bared and soldered enough of the wire to make contact with the lower screw the upper screw compressed the plastic casing which i discovered had crushed the wire and broke the strands. As mgbpuff pointed out the fluke was of no use since even one strand would provide continuity, the real test would have been a voltage drop test but i found the trouble before having to get that carried away. I see this far too often when diagnosing at work where some clown has shoved his big ass canadian tire test lite through the casing of a wire and then left it unprotected and corrosion sets in. At the very least a dab of silicon will prevent this.

Anywho , mystery solved and lesson learned.

I thank you all for the knowledge I've learned in the last few years.
As we get to the point of marginal improvements in our set ups its somewhat logical to become bored and find other means of entertainment rousing or bragging. Having fun

This forum tends to have more knowledgeable folk than most of the fanboys bragging their entry level stuff is the best in sum places. Let alone the threads on complete room builds and speaker builds {thank you for your most recent ones Trevor}

On a plus note these techs change relatively quick so newer tricks and such stay relevant.
