The room is a about 18' wide by 22' long. The listening position is between 8'-10'. My preference would be closer to 8'. The house is under construction therefore we have not placed any furniture in the space yet, other than a schematic layout.

By the way thank you to everyone for their comments this is exactly what I was looking for from Axiom. Hopefully they will return my call this time. If I don't get a call back I think I will have to find another company to deal with.

Since you are under construction i would not think you are in any rush. It will be your loss if you move on. I have no idea why this is happening but im sure there is an innocent reason. Hopefully all goes as planned.

I have pretty much the same system you are describing and would recommend 5.1.2 if you can swing it but if you need to invest in the sub first, forgo the ATMOS in favour of the bigger EP500 Sub.

I recently upgraded from the VP150 to the VP180 on wall and there is a huge improvement, almost overkill. Kind of wonder what the VP160 would have been like but I have no regrets.

Upgrading from a ported EP175 to a sealed EP500, on the other hand, was a HUGE improvement. I'm not exaggerating here. You always wonder if the extra money is worth it and this is one of the few upgrades I've made that leaves absolutely no doubt. The proof came in the form of my wife racing down the stairs wondering "what the hell was that?". I'm now wondering if I have room for the EP800 or get a second EP500...

Now, M2 vs M3... I'm going to go against the others and recommend the M2's as they are a better match to the M22's with both having 5.25" woofers. I know the VP160 and VP180 have both the 5.25" and 6.5" woofers but surrounds will likely be set at 80hz and if you get a big enough sub, it will take care of any low end.

If, on the other hand, you get something other than the M22's (M5HP or M60), then I'd go with the M3's for surrounds.

Your receiver is a 9.2. Why not at least run a 7.1 system in that big room? Since you have no side wall you can run your side surrounds as in ceiling and your rear surrounds on wall. OR all 4 surrounds can be ceiling mounted QS8’s on swivel brackets which will give you the ability to adjust the angle based on how it sounds during setup. I am running 4 QS8s and absolutely love the surround. Athletically speakers hanging from the ceiling might be a non starter with the spousal unit but it’s worth a discussion.

I agree with your upgrade to the 160 on wall. Great center speaker and will greatly enhance your movies dialog.

I'd be really tempted to go with QS10's...

Agree the QS10's look to be amazing. My brother in law has them and he does love them. Honestly though, after listening to them on the one occasion I had time to visit I did not find a noticeable difference versus my QS8's. I didn't tell him that of course! His system is brand new however and does need some time to get audio calibration correct. He says he is fine tuning it daily. Also I have to say that the QS10's are in my opinion just enormous in size for surround speakers! Soooo in the application as stated above (hanging from the ceiling) I think I would stick with the QS8's. Saves a bit of cash as well...

I missed that part.
I wouldn't hang them from the ceiling.
