here's my short comparison of CAT 5 DIY yourself speaker cable compared to Kimber 4PR
They sound the same.
I used 16 strands (2 runs of CAT 5) for positive and negative. I could not tell a difference.
that's all I have to say.

Ah...but is the CAT5 as pretty as that rainbow-braided Kimber stuff?

WOW!
I'd say that attractive speaker cables is a pretty important issue! When you sit there and listen to the beautiful music from your Axiom speakers - just imagine how much the experienced is enhanced knowing that those beautiful rainbow colored Kimber cables are lurking behind furniture, under carpet, tucked around baseboards, etc.! Hmmm.... rainbow colored....I got me an idea... (Paradise cables) hmmmm....

hey Randyman
i know it makes not much difference, but actually mine are visible. and i have both, so i'll keep the kimber. i got it thrown it with the deal for my speakers, so why not?! i would never pay 3$ a foot for it.
i know, we've had this discussion before.

OK ! Just tugging on your leg a bit (heh heh)
If you (or anybody else) has to endure the sight of their speaker wires, then attractiveness certainly is an issue. For me - outtasight is the best!

Hi all,
Or, like the eccentric lady you used to write for the International Audio Review (IAR), you could build little wooden towers and suspend the cable on the towers from your amp to your speakers. She maintained it made a significant difference in the sound quality (!). The speaker cable was not to touch carpet or the floor.
She may still be writing about audio. Her name is Enid Lumley (sounds like a character from an Agatha Christie whodunit. .).
