I recently purchased a sony dvp 5 cd/dvd/sacd changer. ever since the movies have to played at -15db for audible output. This level of volume would have shaken up my living room with my prev player.

This is a problem only when i play movies, i dont face this problem while playing CDs.

I have activated the Dolby/DTS output modes on the player and also made sure the wires are connected well.

Any thoughts on what could be wrong.....

I know this doesn't answer your question but did you get the DVP 685? If so how do you like it? I'm trying to convince my dad to enter the SACD arena. I love my DVP 755.

Player , how could u do this , u r making me highjack my own thread......

anyways, i love the system. I guess its a bit expensive. But works great. I am yet to get into sacds, but otherwise the system has superb vedio, no noice while playing. I did read that people were disappointed with the layer change delay. i give a dahm for it as i dont mind a 2sec freeze on the screen when player switches dvd layers. Remote could have been better, the buttons are very small and quiet a few time i have pressed the wrong one.prob thats the only draw back.

u could wait a tad longer b4 u take the plunge, i feel the price shld drop quiet soon. The salesguy at circuit city did mention that panasonic will soon come out with a universal player. u may want to keep that in mind too. Also keep a watch at ecost, u get great deals for some denons.

I wish there was a Universal DVD Player with Faroudja's chipset, with a DVI output, that holds 400 - 500 DVD's in a carousel... That's all I'm looking for... not too much to ask... Is it? Audio gods hear our prayers!

P.S. It can only cost about $100 more than today's 400 DVD changers.

Allegron,

Love the avatar my man! But I must admit, my favorite character has to be Stewie without a doubt. Brian comes in at my #2 spot.

Thanks! The size of the picture makes Peter look even fatter.

Output on your player should NOT be in Dolby/DTS via SPDIF. It should be passthrough or PCM or something like that. You want the raw signal going to your 53TX and your 53TX to process the signal. Set your sound setting on your 53TX one past the THX cinema. That will show you the type of signal that is coming through. If on your LED it shows you have Pro Logic II then you are sending a signal that has been processed. If it shows DTS or DD on the panel then you are getting the right signal. Your CD/SACD output might just have a higher sensitivity. I think your CD signal is using your 5.1 channel output which is also your SACD output. Then again I could be wrong.
